Hey Routers, having fun so far? Then let's keep things going with a
RETRO ROCKET EVENT
So it's been about a million years, but try and think back to the days of Gen I and Gen II. Back when dealing with a Rocket base meant investing time into figuring out the warp panels or dealing with encounter after encounter until you managed to find the secret statue? Good thing nobody in Route has to deal with that anymore, right?
Right?
Wrong!
Starting on May 17th you might find yourself thrown into one of those awful old school Rocket bases. But where is it? That's the fun part! It could be anywhere! See, whatever's been going on hasn't entirely worked itself out yet, so remember those glitches we just had? There might be some unused code still laying in wait. And it could be activated by something so simple as changing screens. Opening a door, heading out of town, maybe going from one room to the next, that's all it takes and you might not find yourself where you were before, but somewhere completely different.
Now then, let's go over the important stuff. For starters, this is completely optional. If you don't want to get glitched into Game Boy era Rocket hell, you don't have to. And don't worry, you won't be wandering around alone, it's entirely possible that other people got warped in at the same time and have to deal with the same NPC grunts and warp tiles and all the other frustrations that everyone else does.
Another thing to not worry about? You guys won't be stuck there for three days. The base has exits (which can lead to wherever you want, feel free to use it as another chance to move around the map as a whole), and Escape Ropes, Teleport, all that stuff works just fine. The only downside is, well, the next time you guys go somewhere, the glitch could trigger again and you could end up right back in the base. Apparently, no one's learned how to patch the world yet, so please bear with us.
As far as what's in the base, besides traps, NPC Grunts, and other annoyances, there are some opportunities to earn some goodies here! There's plenty of items laying around: Escape Ropes, Super Potions, Nuggets, and even some TMs (Double-Edge, Snatch and Swords Dance)! And as far as Pokemon go, here's a chance to obtain Voltorb, Electrode, Koffing, Weezing, and Lapras, all of them between levels 15 and 20. There's nothing from the Zubat or Rattata lines, but you'll be seeing plenty of that from the NPC Grunts lurking the base!
And for this event, rather than setting up a log for structured battles, we're going to let you guys decide how you want to tackle the NPC Grunts. Feel free to NPC as many as you want during your posts or logs because they'll keep popping up in the glitch base every time people enter it (just like Zubats in a cave, there's really no end to these guys).
That's about it, so if you have any questions, feel free to let us know here! Have fun, and by the end of the 19th the glitch will have worked itself out!

T-T-T-TIME CRISIS
May. 11th, 2016 01:45 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
After a Wednesday of relative normality, on the morning of Thursday, May 12th, your characters might wake up feeling a little...wibbly-wobbly. In a timey-wimey way, even.
IT'S THE AGE-SWAP EVENT!
Something's gone goofed in the game's internal clock, and as a result, your character may find themselves bigger or smaller, younger or older, wiser or less experienced in three different ways.
Mix and match! You can only change your character's age once--that is, if your fourteen-year-old character is four on Thursday, don't make them forty on Friday--but play around with these three axes as you see fit. A character could be physically eighty and mentally the same, or seem normal on the outside with no memories past middle school, etc. and so on. Also, your character need not remain ageswapped throughout the entirety of the event; they can start late, return to their normal age early, whatever.
The age swap will only affect your characters, not your characters' Pokémon. Whether or not your characters' Pokémon recognize or respect their trainers during these changes is up to you.
* No memories from Route's future, of course, and if you import memories from your characters' canon futures, those will fade in the day or so after the ageswap ends.
BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!
While none of your Pokémon nor the environment will be affected by the age-swap, your character may feel like they've stumbled into Jurassic Park. A few disoriented Fossil Pokémon will be scurrying around both regions for the duration of this event. Each character may catch one (1) of the following: Omanyte, Kabuto, Aerodactyl, Lileep, Anorith, Shieldon, Cranidos, Archen, Tirtouga, Tyrunt, or Amaura.
These Pokémon will range between levels 10-15 so that even if your characters are toddling along with baby steps or creaking in the spine, they need never be in serious danger.
This event is opt-in and ends at 11:59 on Saturday, May 14th.
Something's gone goofed in the game's internal clock, and as a result, your character may find themselves bigger or smaller, younger or older, wiser or less experienced in three different ways.
- Physically: Your character is now a lot tinier than they remember being, or maybe a bit more solid and adult-like. Have they wrinkled like a craisin? Is it hot in here, or is it just them? How does being a different age for a couple days suit your crew?
- Mentally: However they look, your character might suddenly feel older and wiser, or younger and more naive. Maybe they're processing things like a five-year-old would. How your character interacts with the Pokémon world can change with their brain age.
- Memory: Suddenly, the last thing you remember is gearing up for your first day of kindergarten. Or maybe you remember being a lot older*, despite your current sprightly youth. You remember the outcome of an impending battle as if you were there, or maybe you can't even recall what you did yesterday. Just what is going on? And, for those who don't remember their time in Route at all: Who are these people???
Mix and match! You can only change your character's age once--that is, if your fourteen-year-old character is four on Thursday, don't make them forty on Friday--but play around with these three axes as you see fit. Glitch City~
May. 8th, 2016 05:21 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Starting off this slew of events for our grand finale, we get a very old fun favorite.
At the stroke of midnight of May 9th, things get a little... pixelated... again.
It's noticeable almost immediately, where the buildings and the paths take on a block-like appearance. Everything is made of cubes, the ground is perfectly, evenly flat. Even ledges are like sharp, straight-edge walls to cross over.
The weather will also be an even temperature all day - no wind, no breeze, no drizzle, not even burning sun or moving clouds. Nice and mild. At exactly 8:00PM, it will be nightfall. Sunrise--to a midday sun--is at 8:00AM. No gradual sunrise, no sunset.
The local citizens and your pokemon almost seem this way too. At first glance, they'll look small and evenly pixel-shaped, but if you blink they look normal and proportionate. Their appearances will change at random, and they're very inconsistent. If you ask them, they'll deny any notice of this; in fact, they may be worried for your well-being. They won't notice it at all.
Items will also be impacted by this. They'll still have that sharp, rocky look to them. However, most of them will feel the same as they would were they shaped normally, or food and drinks will taste and feel normal. Block squares of water will still feel and act like water; it'll soak into clothing or roll off in drops.
Gears will malfunction at random as well. A response may fail to go through, maybe a Network announcement gets completely deleted and posted as a blank. Some comments come out muffled by static and hard to hear.
And your music? Radio silence, or spoops.
There is a bonus to the pixel world, at least! Each path takes a grand total of two hours to cross at a walking pace. Feel free to travel to your heart’s content.
It'll end at exactly 12:00AM on Wednesday, May 11th.

It's been a little quiet lately, but on Christmas Day everyone will find a gift basket near them, containing various treats for both Trainers and Pokemon alike! And since you guys have been good this year in stopping the fused Pokemon, everyone's basket will also include a reusable TM of the player's choice too!

Hello, Routers! As a reminder, today and tomorrow mark the start of the preliminary stage of our dream plot! On April 12 and 13, the regions will be blanketed in these faintly glowing feathers, which will be available for characters to pick up as they see fit!
REMEMBER: if you intend to participate in our dream plot (and by extension plan to attend Dream Prom), YOU MUST HAVE YOUR CHARACTER ACQUIRE ONE OF THESE FEATHERS!
(It's fine to handwave the acquiring process if you want, but everyone participating should be presumed to have one by the time plot kicks off.)
After that, it's a quiet few days before the event officially kicks off on April 17th and runs through the end of April 19th — if you'd like to review how it's going to play out, have a look at our original infopost about the plot!
Thanks, everyone, and have a great week!

Did you check out that Rocket Admin post? If you didn't, you should since it's relevant to what's going on here! Plus, it's some insight into how the Rocket Admins make decisions in case you've ever wondered about that.
Anyway, since that's a little vague, here's what's going on! Those Aqua and Magma Grunts from Halloween had bases here, remember? And Team Rocket's finally tracked them down, and doesn't really approve of the idea of other teams setting up shop here, so they're going to send in some Grunts (which means you guys) to go clear them out. That's right! We're having a Rocket plot. A completely optional, opt-in Rocket plot! Because we figured you Rocket players might enjoy having an official chance to put in some work towards a future promotion! So without further delay because you guys probably want to get to the details already, here's the important stuff:

After you've done that, please go check out our Plotting Post in
rocket_hq if you're interested in plotting out teamups or anything like that with your fellow Rocket players!
Also, if you guys have any questions feel free to ask them here!

Hello, hello, everyone! It's that time of year again! You know what that means...
Ho!
First... Junkdates:
Please copy the following into the Command Console.
Current List Count: 113
Ho! Ho!
Second...
Don't forget the Hotel Richissime Holiday Revelry going down for Krazy Kalos New Years Eve Party in Lumiose!
Sign-ups for the rooming roulette end at 9:00 PM EST on December 25th, then the party starts on New Year's Eve!
NOTE: because we anticipate a lot of people might be out partying IRL on actual New Year's Eve, we will probably be putting up the log a day or two early so people can start tagging it in advance and at their leisure. There'll be more definite confirmation of the date the log is going up once we're closer to the event itself!
Ho! Ho! Ho!
And finally...
With Christmas Day approaching, you get those festive holiday goodies from us! On the 25th of December, everyone will wake up with an egg next to them. From the outside, the egg looks normal, but all of the Pokémon hatched are shiny! As per the norm, you're allowed to pick any Pokémon (yes, including fossils!) from any Generation (yes, including VI!) except for legendaries. Go wild!

Hey, Routers! It's getting toward the holiday season, and because it's essentially Route tradition to have some kind of event in the period around Christmas, we on the modteam are here tonight to bring you some news about what we've got planned for the rest of the month!
Though in the past our events have usually been themed around Christmas, we've decided to shake things up a bit this year and schedule our festivities for New Year's Eve, instead! So your characters can feel free to go ahead and make Christmas plans on their own; we won't be interrupting them any with mod events.
What we do have planned, however, is an optional New Year's Eve party event! So if you're interested, read on for more details!

GOLDENROD CITY
DAY 16/7. 12:24.
Hello, denizens of Kanto and Johto! We have a bit of excitement. As you noticed, we have a little rain and an event coming up for you guys. Now, you might be wondering what do Ace Reporter Kennedy and Sabrina have to do with an upcoming plot where the title implies fossils...
( It's all just ancient history )
( F.A.Q. )
DAY 16/7. 12:24.
"But we still need to find Ace Reporter Kennedy!" It wasn't every day that Anderson Cloyster, CEO of EVNews was this impassioned, but people were starting to get nervous. Rumors were starting to spread about how dangerous it is to be a reporter in Johto, and, as a result, the summer interns were merely trickling in. "Last year, it was different! We had so many applications for interns, we had to turn some away and we could fire people freely! This year, we had to sacrifice the donut intern because there simply aren't enough interns!" Depressed, commiserating, executives muttered in mourning. All but one executive seemed distracted by the concept of fetching their own donuts. She stood up, silently, knowing it was the only way to get a committee of starving adult men to stop paying attention to their stomachs. "Yes, Katie Crobat, what is it?" Anderson held faith in Katie's ideas. Her new talk show, Katie, was off to a phenomenal start. "Anderson, I believe we have something to find Ace Reporter Kennedy. You see, I noticed, in our EVNews special, that the gym leader Sabrina can communicate with the departed. At the very least, we can use this to locate Ace Reporter Kennedy, if he is indeed dead, and salvage our workplace image through that." Anderson Cloyster's eyes lit up with the suggestion. He wanted to take it a step further, but he knew that, unlike most people, Katie had a tricky thing called morals and values. Someone else would have to jump in and make a suggestion quickly to keep the momentum going. And, of course, the most soulless person in the room made it. Bill O'tillery, without missing a beat, chimed in, "Hey! We should broadcast it to the public at large! It'll show that we care about our newspeople, even in death to give them a proper burial and the ratings would be massive. Think about it! We can even bring in some other gym leaders that'd be interested. Gym leaders, seances, ghost stories? What's there not to like?!" The room was dead quiet. A peaceful, hopeful expression crawled across Katie's face. Then the room broke up into loud cheering. Anderson quickly turned to the secretary, who was feverishly typing away, "Isabelle! Contact Morty and Sabrina, ASAP! We have a show to put on!" |

DAY 03/06. 00:01.
"--and then I told them to scram before I hit them. Really, I don't get it. It's been six whole months and the Johto factor's being hit with these strange visitors. I don't know what's causing it, but whatever was built..." Ariana glared over at Petrel from the desk her pokégear pressed against her ear. She was in the middle of a conversation, but her eyes and her mind were roaming in multiple directions. One: this room was still empty, large and simple. The wall had been repaired, for the most part... There were still a few holes here and there, only small enough for the rodent-types. However, it wasn't the holes that were the problem: it was the space, the vacant, empty space, that shouldn't be there. The machine had been gone for six months, and she was surprised the Boss hadn't skinned them alive. And two: They needed to find it. Grunts had been going on search and rescue missions for months, all to no avail. And here she was, making a call over to Hoenn to see if she could collect any information. Even Proton was out doing a bit of scouting on his own. But here she was, being the only one productive in this trio of nonsense. Archer stood by the window, merely watching the chaos with his mug of hot coffee--in this heat? What was his problem?!--while Petrel... "It's that youngster kid's," Petrel explained once he caught Ariana's eye, still petting the rodent in his arms. "I dunno, she seems kinda fond of me. Probably looking for a new trainer. If she's in the top ten percentage of her type, I wouldn't be surprised if she wanted a new one." "...hey, you two. It's quiet outside," piped in a third voice. Petrel glanced over to Archer, who finally released his hold on the curtain he was holding. "The visitors are gone." "Heh. Guess they weren't staying this time either, huh?" That was when Ariana angrily stomped her foot. "Are you two even listening to me?! We need to find the machine, not worry about these stupid intruders or a dumb Rattata!" Petrel turned to the little pokémon. "It's okay, she didn't mean it. She's just cranky." Ariana rolled her eyes and kept talking to her Hoenn contact. "Anyway, as I was saying... uh-huh? Yeah, my team is as much of a nightmare as yours. W-wait, Annie, are you there? I think your reception's going bad-- Annie? Where'd you go!?" Normally, the Gears worked perfectly. Perhaps a Rotom got into the system again? With a heavy sigh, she just stared at the screen, trying to see if the reception had been compromised, but the only thing visible on the display was one application's start-up menu, animated circles bouncing underneath one simple phrase: Gotta draw 'em all! "What?!" |
And that concludes Fourth Wall! We hope you enjoyed your new encounters with our bi-yearly visitors. However, the confusion doesn’t quite end here!

A WILD EVENT POST APPEARS!

So! As careful watchers of EV News lately might've noticed, Clair's been getting kind of testy lately, what with so much media attention focusing on other locations in Johto and such relatively few challenges coming her way. (Seriously, they ran a story about Morty going for a walk?) But now, with Amphy getting sick and the beginnings of the No Foolin' Benefit Concert taking shape down in Olivine City, Clair's decided that's the last straw, and it's high time she did something about all this. Who does Jasmine think she is, garnering so much love and support from altruistic citizens of Johto, anyway? Don't people realize Clair totally deserves her moment (or possibly several moments) in the spotlight, too? Clair certainly thinks so.
And so, as a result, she is going to be putting on her very own

Because no one ever said she was subtle.

Operation: Lovebug

( cause I'd get a thousand hugs from ten thousand lightning bugs as they tried to teach me how to dance )
So, Route, here’s a little Valentine’s event for you!
Starting tonight (Friday, February 8th), there will be announcements made in TV and radio reporting a decreasing number of Volbeat and Illumise in both the Kanto and Johto regions. In an attempt to help boost the population of these bug-types, Bugsy and the professors have proposed a voluntary blackout to ensure their mating this year goes as smoothly as possible. The blackout should be effective since the Pokémon in question are nocturnal and the glowing lights on their bodies are a substantial part of their mating ritual. Can't have the light pollution from all these cities cramping their style! Leading up to Valentine’s Day, there will be further reminders in all kinds of media, including fliers set up around the Centers and ads anywhere you can see and hear them.
Naturally, the peak of their mating season just happens to coincide with Valentine's Day, so the voluntary blackout will likewise be taking place on February 14th, and will last for twelve hours – from sunset to sunrise. Though it is voluntary, people are strongly advised to participate, and the Centers, Marts and most larger business and hotel chains in all the cities and towns will be turning out their lights to help out the Pokémon.
Note that this will only affect the lights, of course! This is not a full-on power outage, so your plumbing, water, heat, and other utilities are completely safe.
So take the opportunity to curl up with friends, family or just someone you like! Light some candles, play board games, or go outside to watch the patterns drawn in the sky by the Volbeat as part of their courtship dance to woo the Illumise.
But wait, there’s more!
As a bonus, there will be plenty of Volbeat and Illumise around for capture … just about anywhere! The swarm will last from February 14th until February 17th, during which time you will stumble over both Pokémon fairly easily. Just don’t catch too many of them – we’re trying to make them increase in number, after all!
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, comment below!
