MODERATOR APPLICATIONS


We're putting out a call for New Moderators to join our team!

At this time, we've decided not to commit to filling a set number of slots; we'd like to stay flexible and gauge possible interest in the position before we start determining what the revamped structure of the modteam is ultimately going to look like. So please apply! We're eager to hear from you.


Before you apply, please:

- Check here for a description of the mod duties as well as an outline of the qualities we're looking for.

- Remember that this is an authority position, with all the pros and cons that entails. We've lost members of the modteam on account of misconduct before, and we sincerely hope we'll never have to take those steps again.

- The application does ask one's preference on being a head or tech moderator, but please note that it is up to us to make that final decision.

- Note that only current Route players may apply.


Applications will be open until Saturday, April 20th at 11:59 PM, EST.

HEY GUYS! We've got two things for you!

First off, as you may have possibly heard around the grapevine, we're going to have to say goodbye soon to two of our lovely modlies. Both Cassie and Mei have asked to step down from our lovely modding famiree, and we're going to miss them quite dearly. In just the span of eleven months, we've had numerous modly cycles happening in and out, therefore...

This is really just another one.

CALLING FOR TECHNICAL MODERATORS!


Din and Sunny are looking for three (3) Assist TMs to help us take care of all of that upkeeping! We're looking for people who are good at keeping things updated and are willing to help pitch in and help out with day-to-day activities like badge requests, taken pages and reserves, and even application judging if you're comfortable with it! You're also allowed to contribute to (but not normally asked to lead) plots.

Qualities we're looking for:

Mod Apps will be held from December 16th to December 31st.



We'd also like to draw your attention to the calendar page. As you can see, the weather is actually rather pleasant! It's a nice, building snow. A little sudden, but still pretty nice!

Except that won't last for long.

Hi, Route!

So, as I'm sure all of us can agree, with 200 characters and a huge sandbox to play in, Route needs a little more attention than only two head mods can provide. That's right:

Mod Apps
Will be open from March 1st to March 15th.


We'll be taking on one (1) new Head Mod and one or two (1-2) new Techs.

Head mods deal with players on AIM and Plurk, answer concerns and questions, and approve badges. They judge apps and edit content such as the Starter List, Maps and FAQ. They make announcements and handle stuff like plots. Sunny does the weekly add/remove, but other head mods may be asked to do it if she is unavailable. Time investment is relatively high.

Tech mods handle the day-to-day maintenance of one or more specific pages, such as the Taken Pages, starter slots or Reserves. They may be asked to join in on app judging if they are comfortable with it and their availabilities allow it. They may contribute to (but are not asked to lead) plots. Time investment is relatively low.

Qualities we're looking for:

- Time/Availability.
The big one. If you don't have the free time to do apps every week, if you're seldom on AIM/plurk/other contact point to field player questions, this isn't the job for you. Please check your expected schedule for the next six months or so before you apply, and be realistic with regards to what you can handle. Unfortunately, we've had mods step down because the job was too demanding, so thinking ahead about time constraints is really important; we don't want to gain new mods and lose them just as fast!

- Good communication skills.
You don't have to know Ara, Sunny, Kit or Linlin, but you do have to be willing to work with them, as well as the players, on a near-daily basis. (We don't bite, promise.) You have to be able to express yourself as calmly and clearly as a mod is expected to.

- Creativity.
Two hundred characters and a lot of space to do things with, but we need all the help we can get when it comes to plot. Ideas, ideas, ideas!

- Friendly disposition.
You don't have to be a PR poster child, but without sugar-coating anything, this is a high-stress, often thankless job with no pay and limited benefits. Be prepared to deal with that with a smile.

- Investment.
This isn't a requirement for Assist TMs, but those considering becoming head mods should have been in Route for at least 3 AC cycles. It's not that we don't think our newbies are talented, wonderful people, but we'd like to see some vested interest in the game.

- Knowledge of Pokemon is not required, but a plus.

We hope that doesn't frighten you! If you think you'd do a good job, keep your eyes peeled, we'll be posting the actual app for you to fill out on the 1st!

MODERATOR APPLICATIONS


Yep, here they are, guys! As we announced last week, we're starting mod applications. Yesterday was a tad wonky, so they were pushed back a day, and for that we're sorry.


Before you apply, please remember a few things:

1) Route 29 is a large game. Although you won't be spending every waking moment working on some aspect of it, there will be many days when you'll have to invest lots of time tweaking some part or trying to find a proper plot, or even just answering numerous questions.

2) You'll deal with people you like, people you dislike, and some people you've never met before. You may go in not being much of a people-person, but you'll have to be alright with talking with all sorts of people in order to do it.

3) You're going to be put in situations where you'll have to solve disputes, whether it be player vs player or player vs mod. You'll have to be capable of dealing with problems with a level head, even if there are moments of heightened emotions.

4) Teamwork is necessary. You don't have to be best friends with the other mods, but you have to be able to communicate with everyone.

5) We're looking for current or past players of the game to be our new moderators. We'd like for someone who has seen the game in action first-hand and has experience as a player because we feel that the players have a bit more insight on the way the game works than just from an outside perspective.

6) Remember that taking on the position of modship will come near defining you around livejournal and on the internet overall. Things said on plurk, in personal journals, or sometimes in conversations with others can reflect upon you and the game. This isn't to say you're not allowed to vent or be frustrated, but you'll have to take into account how it will make you appear to others.

Now, with those main points in mind...
