'Cause The Players Gonna Play
Hey, Route! Valentine's Day is coming up and as some of you oldbies may recall, that means it's about time for your friendly neighbors at the Pokégear Information Technology Services to rear their ugly love-obsessed heads again!

So, in the interest of getting everybody into the spirit of the season, they're going to be bringing back their limited-time app function for you to try out — the Project L.U.C.Y. matchmaking app! Please read further for more information about our 2016 Valentine's Day Event!
☆ PROJECT L.U.C.Y. — LOVE UNEXPECTEDLY COMES TO YOU ☆
'Tis the season for following your heart, but the good folks at the PITS are firm believers in the notion that even the heart sometimes needs a little help. So, they've decided to bring back their Pokéworld equivalent of Match.com, available for a limited time only and just in time for the Valentine's season!
IN-CHARACTER, characters will receive an advertisement mailed to their PokéGears on Thursday, February 11, inviting them to participate in the app's short-term matchmaking run! In the event that they click "yes" and opt to participate, they'll be taken to a short survey that they'll be asked to fill out and submit to the app's database, for the purpose of seeking out potential love matches.
Once they complete and submit the survey, they'll be thanked for their time and will be informed that the app database, plus its matching algorithm, will go live on Sunday, February 14th, when they are invited to check back and see if their profile has received any love matches!
OUT OF CHARACTER, here's how you can participate in this event:
• Between now and 11:59 PM on Friday, February 12, go over to our 2016 Project L.U.C.Y. Submissions Post and fill out the brief survey you find there! Please follow the directions carefully; there's a section that should be filled out OOCly for our reference, and a section that should be filled out ICly, from the point of view of the submitting character!
• Responses to the Submissions Post will be screened, to keep the suspense going until Valentine's Day!
• Come February 14th, we will make a modpost listing all the submitted profiles, but with no names attached! Depending on the nature of the responses on the survey, each submitted profile will also be accompanied by "the website's match recommendation", suggesting possible compatibility with at least one other profile listed.
• In the comments of that modpost, we'll also make a top-level comment for each profile received — I.E., "Responses to Profile #1", "Responses to Profile #2", etc.
• Interested characters can then comment to whichever profiles intrigue them, hoping for a conversation and to get to know their mysterious possible-match!
• Your character should then respond to any comments their ad gets, and hopefully get some CR going with the interested parties tagging in! (Like Match.com itself, you're not required to date them, but it's a fun way to meet people anyway!)
☆ FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ☆
CAN MY CHARACTER FILL OUT A FAKE PROFILE?
Yes, they certainly can. This is Match.com, after all; there's no rule that says you have to be completely honest about it. You're welcome to fill out your survey however you see fit, as seriously or as humorously as you like, with two stipulations:
• Do not be offensive. We trust our players to use good judgment when it comes to the content of their play-trolling, and reserve the right to not post surveys that we feel have crossed the line from funny into offensive.
• Do not spam. While we are not setting a hard limit of how many surveys a single character can submit, please be reasonable about it; remember, someone's going to have to read, match, and post all of these.
CAN MY CHARACTER FILL OUT A PROFILE FOR SOMEONE OTHER THAN THEMSELVES?
Yes, they can! We would appreciate it if your character received OOC permission from the player of the character yours is impersonating before you do it, but ICly you can matchmake for your friends all you want!
On the submissions post, we've left an unscreened top-level comment marked "PERMISSIONS"; if you're submitting a profile under the guise of someone else, have that someone else go to the permissions top-level and leave us a note saying they're fine with it! That way, everyone will be in the loop and we'll have a record of who's posting what and with whose permission.
I WANT TO PARTICIPATE, BUT MY CHARACTER WOULDN'T. CAN ONE OF MY CHARACTER'S POKEMON FILL OUT THE SURVEY FOR THEM?
Absolutely! If that's a good way of getting your character to participate when they otherwise wouldn't, then by all means, go for it.
AM I OBLIGATED TO TAG THE PERSON MY PROFILE IS SUPPOSEDLY FOUND COMPATIBLE WITH?
Nope, you're not obligated, but that is part of the fun of the event — letting the anonymous matchmaking happen!
WHAT IF I HAVE SPECIAL REQUESTS FOR MY PROFILE? CAN I REQUEST TO BE FOUND COMPATIBLE WITH ANOTHER CHARACTER I KNOW IS SUBMITTING?
You are absolutely welcome to get in touch with us with any special requests you might have, and we'll do our best to accommodate. We've included a section for it on the survey itself, or feel free to get hold of us via the Permissions Thread!
WHAT IF MY SPECIAL REQUEST IS SOMETHING I DON'T WANT? CAN I STILL MAKE THAT REQUEST?
Yes, we strongly encourage players to give us all of the information we need to help find a match that will be both compatible for the character and fun for the player! While obviously we can't guarantee a perfect match all around, we will do our absolute best to take a player's requests and considerations into account when matching characters up, so please don't hesitate to use these important sections of the survey to make your wishes known to us! Remember, comments are screened on the post, so any OOC special requests made are for the modteam's eyes alone.
WHAT IF MY CHARACTER IS ALREADY IN A RELATIONSHIP? IS THIS EVENT ONLY FOR SHIPPY CR?
Not at all! We know that the information about the event does show a certain lean toward romance, but we want to stress that a player is perfectly within their rights to specify that they are really only looking for gen CR (or negative CR, or "meet up on Sundays and discuss world domination"* CR, as the case may be) and we will do everything we can to accommodate that in the match!
