Victory Road Transfer Application!
May. 26th, 2016 01:54 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Hello Routians! As our Heart Swap event comes to a close and we get everything in place for our Moon Prom event, we'd like to extend our thanks to those of you who have stuck through with us until the end of the line, as well as those who decided they're going to stick with us as we transition into new and exciting territory! Making sure our comms are going to be the best they can be is no easy feat, but we've been doing our best to get everything in tip-top shape so that the transfer to Victory Road can be as simple as possible! So, without further ado, we'd like to present...
THE TRANSFER APP
Which is pretty much only an application in name only! The form is incredibly brief and easy, and consists of the following...
Name: Your handle, obviously!
Method of Contact: Also fairly self-explanatory! Plurk, AIM, whichever!
Character Name (Character Canon): For the characters you'd like to bring into the new game! Repeat as many times as necessary; there's no restriction on how many characters you'd like to bring in.
Link to Accepted Application / most recent Activity Check: For each character you'd like accepted into the new game, just a link to your character's accepted application in Route on the application page would be sufficient! Even if you're not currently in Route, if you were in the game at some point and would like to join Victory Road when it opens, go ahead and link your accepted app and we'll process you just the same! If, for some reason, you can't find your accepted app, we're also willing to take your most recent Activity Check, just as proof that you were/are part of the game!
Additional Info: If you'd like to make any adjustments to your character's canonpoint in the interrim between games, or have any additional requests, questions or concerns going into the new comm, please put them here and we'll do our best to work with you!
And that's it! Easy, right? That's the goal, anyway! The new comm is a bit of a work in progress, with lots of cleaning up to do before we can even begin to call it ready for business, but it's functional enough for now that when all is said and done we should be ready to open our doors on Monday with no complication! You can see what the comm will look like here, if you'd like, while we make sure we do our best to mop up and Special Sweep our way through the weekend!
But until then, get your moon shoes on and be ready to blast off!

Mystery Event Is Exciting
May. 22nd, 2016 05:58 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Hello hello!! While we're sure everyone's thrilled for Promaggeddon later this week, we're rounding out the month with just one more event kicking off on the 22nd of May before everyone gets their moon shoes on! And this one's a little bit of a doozy, so, without further ado, let's get into...
THE HEART SWAP EVENT
...and what that means for you guys! Anyone familiar with Manaphy will probably be familiar with what its signature move can do (in the anime, at least!): Manaphy has the unique ability to use its psychic powers to make any two people swap bodies! And while the Seafaring Pokemon, unfortunately, is calling out sick for this particular event, we'll do it one better and put its talents on a more global scale!
So, you might ask, just what's going to be happening to my character(s), if you opt in? Well, there are a couple of ways this can go down, if you choose to have your character be affected:
( Link Together With All )
So, tl;dr: Freaky Friday, but with Pokemon shenanigans thrown into the mix! Go crazy with it and have lots of fun, but be respectful of your other players while your characters are switched! Make sure you communicate with each other if you're planning on doing something major in someone else's body! And above all, have fun as we prep for Route's last hurrah starting on Friday! If you have any questions, please feel free to drop a comment here and ask! Other things to look forward to this week include the app for the new comm and a preview of the new comm in general, so keep your eyes peeled for that as we get ready for our own heart swap! Take care and enjoy yourselves, guys!

PROMAGEDDON: THE MOONLIGHT PROM-ENADE
May. 19th, 2016 07:51 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Yes, that's right, Routers and PokéFans! Pokémon Prom is once again coming to a Route near you, and we're incredibly hype to be bringing it to you one last time before the transition into Victory Road.
(There's still one more event between now and prom, but since prom tends to be a pretty big event, we wanted to get this out to you with a little time to anticipate and plan!)
So let's get right to it, with what you can expect from this year's PokéProm!
( OTHERWISE KNOWN AS PROM 4: ELECTRIC BOOGA-MORE! )

That's right, Routers, it's that time of the year again! To commemorate six great years of Pokemon fun, we've scheduled our anniversary Fourth Wall event to coincide with our annual Pokémon Prom! You can find more information about Prom OVER HERE, and we strongly recommend reading it for a more in-depth rundown of how the intersection of Fourth Wall and Prom will unfold, but for the time being here are some further details of how a Fourth Wall event works here in Route 29!

Hey Routers, having fun so far? Then let's keep things going with a
RETRO ROCKET EVENT
So it's been about a million years, but try and think back to the days of Gen I and Gen II. Back when dealing with a Rocket base meant investing time into figuring out the warp panels or dealing with encounter after encounter until you managed to find the secret statue? Good thing nobody in Route has to deal with that anymore, right?
Right?
Wrong!
Starting on May 17th you might find yourself thrown into one of those awful old school Rocket bases. But where is it? That's the fun part! It could be anywhere! See, whatever's been going on hasn't entirely worked itself out yet, so remember those glitches we just had? There might be some unused code still laying in wait. And it could be activated by something so simple as changing screens. Opening a door, heading out of town, maybe going from one room to the next, that's all it takes and you might not find yourself where you were before, but somewhere completely different.
Now then, let's go over the important stuff. For starters, this is completely optional. If you don't want to get glitched into Game Boy era Rocket hell, you don't have to. And don't worry, you won't be wandering around alone, it's entirely possible that other people got warped in at the same time and have to deal with the same NPC grunts and warp tiles and all the other frustrations that everyone else does.
Another thing to not worry about? You guys won't be stuck there for three days. The base has exits (which can lead to wherever you want, feel free to use it as another chance to move around the map as a whole), and Escape Ropes, Teleport, all that stuff works just fine. The only downside is, well, the next time you guys go somewhere, the glitch could trigger again and you could end up right back in the base. Apparently, no one's learned how to patch the world yet, so please bear with us.
As far as what's in the base, besides traps, NPC Grunts, and other annoyances, there are some opportunities to earn some goodies here! There's plenty of items laying around: Escape Ropes, Super Potions, Nuggets, and even some TMs (Double-Edge, Snatch and Swords Dance)! And as far as Pokemon go, here's a chance to obtain Voltorb, Electrode, Koffing, Weezing, and Lapras, all of them between levels 15 and 20. There's nothing from the Zubat or Rattata lines, but you'll be seeing plenty of that from the NPC Grunts lurking the base!
And for this event, rather than setting up a log for structured battles, we're going to let you guys decide how you want to tackle the NPC Grunts. Feel free to NPC as many as you want during your posts or logs because they'll keep popping up in the glitch base every time people enter it (just like Zubats in a cave, there's really no end to these guys).
That's about it, so if you have any questions, feel free to let us know here! Have fun, and by the end of the 19th the glitch will have worked itself out!

T-T-T-TIME CRISIS
May. 11th, 2016 01:45 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
After a Wednesday of relative normality, on the morning of Thursday, May 12th, your characters might wake up feeling a little...wibbly-wobbly. In a timey-wimey way, even.
IT'S THE AGE-SWAP EVENT!
Something's gone goofed in the game's internal clock, and as a result, your character may find themselves bigger or smaller, younger or older, wiser or less experienced in three different ways.
Mix and match! You can only change your character's age once--that is, if your fourteen-year-old character is four on Thursday, don't make them forty on Friday--but play around with these three axes as you see fit. A character could be physically eighty and mentally the same, or seem normal on the outside with no memories past middle school, etc. and so on. Also, your character need not remain ageswapped throughout the entirety of the event; they can start late, return to their normal age early, whatever.
The age swap will only affect your characters, not your characters' Pokémon. Whether or not your characters' Pokémon recognize or respect their trainers during these changes is up to you.
* No memories from Route's future, of course, and if you import memories from your characters' canon futures, those will fade in the day or so after the ageswap ends.
BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!
While none of your Pokémon nor the environment will be affected by the age-swap, your character may feel like they've stumbled into Jurassic Park. A few disoriented Fossil Pokémon will be scurrying around both regions for the duration of this event. Each character may catch one (1) of the following: Omanyte, Kabuto, Aerodactyl, Lileep, Anorith, Shieldon, Cranidos, Archen, Tirtouga, Tyrunt, or Amaura.
These Pokémon will range between levels 10-15 so that even if your characters are toddling along with baby steps or creaking in the spine, they need never be in serious danger.
This event is opt-in and ends at 11:59 on Saturday, May 14th.
Something's gone goofed in the game's internal clock, and as a result, your character may find themselves bigger or smaller, younger or older, wiser or less experienced in three different ways.
- Physically: Your character is now a lot tinier than they remember being, or maybe a bit more solid and adult-like. Have they wrinkled like a craisin? Is it hot in here, or is it just them? How does being a different age for a couple days suit your crew?
- Mentally: However they look, your character might suddenly feel older and wiser, or younger and more naive. Maybe they're processing things like a five-year-old would. How your character interacts with the Pokémon world can change with their brain age.
- Memory: Suddenly, the last thing you remember is gearing up for your first day of kindergarten. Or maybe you remember being a lot older*, despite your current sprightly youth. You remember the outcome of an impending battle as if you were there, or maybe you can't even recall what you did yesterday. Just what is going on? And, for those who don't remember their time in Route at all: Who are these people???

Glitch City~
May. 8th, 2016 05:21 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Starting off this slew of events for our grand finale, we get a very old fun favorite.
At the stroke of midnight of May 9th, things get a little... pixelated... again.
It's noticeable almost immediately, where the buildings and the paths take on a block-like appearance. Everything is made of cubes, the ground is perfectly, evenly flat. Even ledges are like sharp, straight-edge walls to cross over.
The weather will also be an even temperature all day - no wind, no breeze, no drizzle, not even burning sun or moving clouds. Nice and mild. At exactly 8:00PM, it will be nightfall. Sunrise--to a midday sun--is at 8:00AM. No gradual sunrise, no sunset.
The local citizens and your pokemon almost seem this way too. At first glance, they'll look small and evenly pixel-shaped, but if you blink they look normal and proportionate. Their appearances will change at random, and they're very inconsistent. If you ask them, they'll deny any notice of this; in fact, they may be worried for your well-being. They won't notice it at all.
Items will also be impacted by this. They'll still have that sharp, rocky look to them. However, most of them will feel the same as they would were they shaped normally, or food and drinks will taste and feel normal. Block squares of water will still feel and act like water; it'll soak into clothing or roll off in drops.
Gears will malfunction at random as well. A response may fail to go through, maybe a Network announcement gets completely deleted and posted as a blank. Some comments come out muffled by static and hard to hear.
And your music? Radio silence, or spoops.
There is a bonus to the pixel world, at least! Each path takes a grand total of two hours to cross at a walking pace. Feel free to travel to your heart’s content.
It'll end at exactly 12:00AM on Wednesday, May 11th.

Hey, Routians! Sunny here, to get this started off. Today, we've got some really big announcements. To avoid beating around the bush -

GUESS WHAT (GUESS WHAT) IT'S GONNA BE MAY
May. 1st, 2016 08:44 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Hey, Routers — Alex here. We're hard at work behind the scenes on a fair amount of mod stuff right now, which is why April's Activity Check and the calendar for May are a little bit delayed. For the time being, please sit tight, continue playing, and don't fret about the AC post not being up! Obviously we're not going to penalize the players for delays caused on our end, so please just carry on as usual and keep your eyes peeled for some other, forthcoming mod posts from us in the near future!
As for the weather, you can feel free to assume that the standard weather from April's calendar will be continuing forward until we get May's out to you — clear skies and moderate temperatures from here on out!
Additionally, because we know this question has been left hanging for a month — PokéProm will be making a return for yet another year, and this year we'll be having it coincide with our traditional Fourth Wall Event at the end of May! So stay tuned, PokéFans, because we'll have word on that and a lot of other exciting events in store for you coming up soon!
Though it may not appear that way on the surface, there's a lot going on behind the scenes right now, and we're working hard at getting it sorted out so that we can have some pretty exciting announcements for you ASAP! So thank you so much for your patience, and please keep your eyes peeled for some hot forthcoming news from us in the next few days!

Regarding Mod Applications
Apr. 19th, 2016 01:26 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Hey, everyone! We just wanted to give a little announcement and update regarding moderator applications. We haven't received as many as we'd hoped, so we're going to leave them open for one week longer, going until April 27th.
To help illuminate our reasoning for this time extension, we'd also like to give you an update about the current status of the moderator team, and by extension the game as a whole.
At the beginning of the month, due to recent drops from the modteam and from the game, the need to open up moderator applications to re-staff the team became inevitable. It was at this time that Alex also expressed to us her intention to step down as an HM, once a new team had been recruited and transitioned into their roles as moderators. Therefore, as we noted on our moderator applications, we've been looking for candidates interested in being both tech mods and head mods, who might be interested in helping to carry the game forward from here.
It is at this point that we feel we must be candid: with the current turnout that we've received, and the moderator changes that will be coming in the future, we simply will not have the staff on board to keep Route maintained and running in the way that it ought to be.
Therefore, we have decided to extend the acceptance deadline for moderator applications by one week, and emphasize again that we would really appreciate the extra hands to keep Route moving smoothly forward.
If you're interested in assisting, please consider filling in an application here.
Thanks!

New announcement!
Apr. 4th, 2016 07:11 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Good evening, Routinos and Routinas!
We've got another somber announcement for the game tonight. Dal, one of our amazing tech mods, has decided to step down from mod team and the game. She has been on the team for over two years as well, and has been an amazing addition and helper. We'd like to recognize all of her assistance and hard work that she's put into this game to help us all progressing forward.
Due to this new change, we're opening moderator applications starting tonight. They'll be open from April 4th to April 20th, 11:59 PM EST, and we're hoping to have a new team picked by early May. We'll be taking on a new handful of assistants, looking at both the Head and Tech categories, so if you're interested please look into the form and consider submitting here!
Thank you again, Dal, for everything you've done in helping Route continue toward! We wish you luck in your future endeavors!
Your Modteam,
Sunny, Alex, and Steve
We've got another somber announcement for the game tonight. Dal, one of our amazing tech mods, has decided to step down from mod team and the game. She has been on the team for over two years as well, and has been an amazing addition and helper. We'd like to recognize all of her assistance and hard work that she's put into this game to help us all progressing forward.

MODERATOR APPLICATIONS
We're putting out a call for New Moderators to join our team!
At this time, we've decided not to commit to filling a set number of slots; we'd like to stay flexible and gauge possible interest in the position before we start determining what the revamped structure of the modteam is ultimately going to look like. So please apply! We're eager to hear from you.
Before you apply, please:
- Check here for a description of the mod duties as well as an outline of the qualities we're looking for.
- Remember that this is an authority position, with all the pros and cons that entails. We've lost members of the modteam on account of misconduct before, and we sincerely hope we'll never have to take those steps again.
- The application does ask one's preference on being a head or tech moderator, but please note that it is up to us to make that final decision.
- Note that only current Route players may apply.
Applications will be open until Saturday, April 20th at 11:59 PM, EST.
( Step up to the challenge! )
For those who applied, whether you're chosen or not, all of us would like to thank you for taking the time to fill this out and step up to the challenge. We really appreciate the fact that you're willing to help out and were honest with us. The points brought up in your responses will also go towards the overall goal of making Route an ideal game to play in.
Thank you. And good luck!

Activity Check: March 2016
Apr. 1st, 2016 03:35 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
ACTIVITY CHECK
This Activity Check encompasses activity made during the month of March. Posts and threads started between March 1 through April 8th may be used as long as they were not used for last month's activity.
• Each proof linked must be at least ten (10) comments long (meaning 5 from you and 5 from another, or with threadjacking, etc.).
Half requirements should make at minimum twelve (12) comments overall, at least 6 from your character.
• Proofs must be completed with three different characters. If Character A submits threads with Characters B, C, and D, this is a valid form of AC. If Character A submits two threads with Character B and one thread with Character D, this is NOT a valid form of AC.
• Players in control of multiple characters are discouraged from making AC by threading several of their characters off of the same opposing character. The maximum number of threads a player may submit for AC with the same character (spread across different characters of their own) is two.
• Action tagging count as threads. Conversations in voicemails/inboxes also count as threads as long as they are started during that month of AC.
• Multiple-comment icon spams count as just one comment.
• Half requirements are for those who were on hiatus for up to half of the month and returned more than one week before the Activity Check.
• Posts and threads made during the week of the Activity Check can be used for that month's activity check!
• Those who returned within a week of the activity check are exempt from the month's check. Those who are also currently on hiatus are exempt.
Full Requirements are one post and two threads, or three threads, or two posts, one thread, or three posts.
Half Requirements are one post, and one thread of any length, or two threads, one of 10 comments and one of any length.
Characters who joined during the second app round of the month only need one post of any length or one thread of any length to verify that they have introduced.
The activity check ends on April 8th, 11:59 pm EST. Anyone who does not check in will be removed from the game on April 9th.
