weekly updates

Announcements, guys!

YOUR WEATHER FORECAST FOR THIS WEEK IS: SUNNY!
That's right, guys! It's going to be beautiful and sunny until Monday, Sept. 6! Level playing fields, but who wants to battle? It's wonderful picnic weather!
Highs: 85ºF/29ºC. Lows: 64ºF/18ºC.

Also guys, we've received a few complaints about the overabundance of memes in the OOC community. We accidentally let it get a bit overboard and we don't want it to become too cluttered, so in a few days, we are going to make a meme-community for Route. For now and for the future, all memes posted in the game communities and the meme community must be mod approved. More details to come soon!

And don't forget our monthly activity check, which is.... the post right after this one!

You... didn't answer my question. Why do you guys feel moderating the meme comm is necessary? Because, personally, I can't think of any pros to moderating it and a whole long list of possible cons. I mean, it is increasing your workload, because you haven't been moderating memes even if you were supposed to. And your workload really doesn't need any increasing considering that apps have been checked on Sunday instead of Saturday two weeks in a row now.

Also, something that really concerns me about this is the fact that the announcement comes in the form of "we'll have a meme comm ready for you in a few days and we'll be controlling it all closely and we're not going to explain how until it's ready". I'm not sure I'd go so far as to say that it sounds like you're going "STOP HAVING FUN GUYS" but I would say that it sounds a lot like you're going "MEMES ARE BAD GUYS" with a little of "WE DON'T TRUST YOU TO BE RESPONSIBLE ON YOUR OWN". And I can't recall ever seeing either mod participating much in memes, which adds to the impression that you don't like them. And I know I'm not going to feel comfortable asking permission to have a meme when I feel like the person I'm asking doesn't like memes and doesn't trust my judgment on them.

And then there are concerns about timing, like what if my schedule is completely incompatible with either mod's? I mean, memes are spontaneous by nature, y'know? By the time I get a response to a PM, maybe I don't want to do the meme anymore, or maybe I had a different idea that I like better. And then there are memes for which the timing is important, like, say, if I'm not doing anything for Thanksgiving and I'm bored out of my skull and want to do a "what are your characters thankful for" meme but oh hey both the mods are spending the day with their families or whatever, looks like my Thanksgiving meme can't be on Thanksgiving because there's nobody to approve it! And what if there are 5 other people in the comm who had the exact same thought and suddenly when the mods get back the next day, there are 6 Thanksgiving memes sitting in the queue?

Really, I feel like a lot of this fuss could've been avoided by the meme comm and its mysterious "system" being set up before this announcement was made, because I'm sure some of the expressed concerns are going to be addressed by the explanation of the system, but because literally nothing about the system has been explained to us (including that an organized system will exist, if one looks at the announcement alone and none of the comments), we don't know that, do we? So we ask, because I know I don't like being confused and in the dark about this sort of thing, and I'm sure nobody else does, either.
