The Kanto Biregional Tournament: get your matchups here!

The below matchups are final and will not be changed, unless one participant is in the wrong bracket due to an oversight. Participants will have 7 days to give us Round 1 winners, at which point we'll be posting the next round's matches. Each round will be randomized to provide some diversity.

Due to the large number of rounds — 6 for Elite — we will be shortening the amount of time players will have to give us their answers, so that the last few Elite rounds will be spaced 3 days apart. If you're afraid of missing a date, just check the calendar for more information!

In the case that one partner goes missing, the person who attempted contact will win by default. If extenuating circumstances come into play, such as a personal emergency requiring a hiatus (with due warning to the mods and the battle partner), we will flip a coin.

Update: players facing off against gym leaders can have a coin flipped (default) or choose to strategize, in which case they should use the post here.

To post winners, please see this screened post! BOTH partners must comment with the name of winner in order for the victory to be valid. If not, see the above paragraph. If neither player comments, there will be no victor.

You can use this post to discuss your matches. If no consensus can be reached, the mods will flip a coin upon request.

...neither of them are seeming too willing to hedge any on this, good lord, but that Thunder Wave will be met with Protect, followed by another Double Team; he's going to be attempting to get a Night Slash in after that's dealt with, to at least get STAB in on it, though there's obviously no guarantee of connection there.

It'll be Protected against, yes. But Gyarados had to deal with this sort of stalemate before and knows it could turn out bad in the long run. Well! Praetor will forego defense and use Toxic and Thunder Wave to have something land on that Absol.

Well, Kimblee actually got...half a clue from Archer, who at one point has mentioned that just about everyone has managed to inflict some sort of horrific status ailment on that Absol at one point or another, to the point where both of them are starting to think the Super Luck ability is just being ironic at this point. He's been introduced to the general glory that are Lum Berries, and he'll be using that to deal with the effects of Toxic; he'll be firing off another Thunderbolt before...promptly...getting...hit in the face with Thunder Wave yeahno seriously, that ability is just being ironic by now.

Maybe it's actually called Lancer Luck in disguise!

Down goes Praetor, and up comes Gladius the Scizor who... hasn't seen much action, come to think of it, so he'll be ready. It'll notice the downpour of rain and the fact that the Absol is inflicted with paralysis before going on the move. He'll Swords Dance upon arrival then use X-Scissor for its good accuracy.

Honestly, that'd be the most accurate name for this thing at this point...

Well, given that the Absol now has slightly more speed than a person in a coma, it's in Kimblee's best interests to keep the Scizor in close as opposed to doing anything that will require dodging from a distance - there's also next to no point in continuing to put up a defensive front, given that there's a chance that'll fail on him so at least going down swinging will be mildly less embarrassing than "I attempted to Protect and failed hard."

He's assuming Saber remembers the attempts at giving the Metagross a face full of fire from the beginning of the battle; similar tactics are being employed here - waiting until it gets close, then Flamethrower to the face. He'd try for something with higher attack power than that, but he's preferring the accuracy be...not lowered here for poor damn Captain E-Rank here.

Indeed, she does remember. She'll call out Scizor's name once and he'll stop in his charge to put up a Protect against that Flamethrower (really, thank you, Archer). Her Scizor was hoping the Thunder Wave would give that Absol a bad shake, but... hmm. He'll use a Double Team after then go for a familiar Bullet Punch to be backed up with STAB, Technician, and the Swords Dance.

You have yet to see how these people train, Saber - sheer force of will is an amazing thing and something that they...uh...encourage, let's say it's encouragement, it sounds nicer that way...

That said, however, the level of Very Screwed on this Absol is kind of ridic, given the fact that it has no means by which to recover HP and it did take a Bullet Punch from the Metagross before this (albeit from before all the stat-boosting, but still). What with all that's being put in by the Scizor, the paralysis, the fact that the Absol was already damaged and the fact that Absols are kind of glass cannons to begin with, it certainly seems that a winner is, in fact, you. Well done.

... what's not a nicer way?

Whoa, seriously? Huh! Kimblee was a fine opponent to end this all off for Saber! She'll let out some form of 'whoop,' check herself, then clear her throat and cross the stage to give Kimblee a handshake and a good word over the entertaining battle ~~don't mind her shortness~~, and offer him another battle if he was ever up for it again and if they were both in the same vicinity.

It was fun planning this out with you!

...oh goodness, haha. Well, in that case, Kimblee and Isaac will both be joining you later; they will refrain from dragging Archer along, as I doubt that particular conquest of hers would be too thrilled, but otherwise tonight is being spent on the town - as was said at the beginning, no hard feelings actually. She was a good challenge for him and it was very entertaining; might as well celebrate!

Not to worry; she can bring in her own personal Archer (AKA Mr. Nameless Hero) so she can gloat at and make sure she gets back in her bed safely after some heavy partying and drinking. She'll be very curious about Kimblee and his ways (especially the manic laughing) before going... on about herself. Lemme tell you this one time I ruled most of the known world...

It'd be easy to set up something like that because it does sound fun and with Saber... er, it's hard to restrain her blazing pansexuality (or anything that's beautiful; beautysexual?), seriously. Though she has a love interest waiting in the wings (who is also blonde and no less badass) and she pines for her adorable Master, what's the harm in some fun?

... speaking of things, Kimblee, she should introduce you to King Arthur... who also looks like her (just a bit taller and, um... less developed).

And good god, whatever version of the world you people wandered out of, he wants in on it. Everyone is tiny and adorable and badass, what does he do with this knowledge.

That is usually the case whenever partying is involved with this Saber. /sagely nod

Interact with anyone and everyone that comes from their world? AND I JUST HAD AN IDEA, BUT... Kimblee, when 4th Wall, she should show you how she can summon her personal palace/theater out of the ether...

...if he gets any idea of how Saber fights, he will want to throw down on fourth-wall. You have no idea how badly he tends to want to fight everyone when he's powered-up again; fighting Fate/whatever servants is probably the worst idea he's ever had and so of course he's going to want to do it when it presents itself.

... oh god, Kimblee, why? Would he be a danger to Servants, though? I'm not familiar with Kimblee's abilities...

Because he's astoundingly stupid.

No but really, his powers are based around energy manipulation, which is FMA-speak for "he's capable of making literally everything he touches explode and creating shockwaves through the air that explode on contact." Of course, his reflexes are also shot to hell so he's wicked slow in physical fights, and he's only used his powers at all for about six months out of the last eight years total (seven years in prison + year in Johto, with those six months between his release and his death); he normally...wouldn't be at the peak of his power with all that going on, but he has two Philosopher's Stones on his person.

With only one of them, he's capable of, uh. That. That is him at the bottom of the panel, in all his shirtless 5'10" glory. He doesn't use it often, though, it's - ...you know, my friend and I actually sat down and worked out that FMA could actually be AUed into Fate/ frighteningly easily. The closest way I can describe it is to consider Kimblee Berserker-class (complete with Mad Enhancement because he has a tendency to lose it on the battlefield, which just kind of kills his restraint and...leads to destruction along the lines of the abovementioned image), what with the Philosopher's Stone being the Noble Phantasm and the personal skill being akin to Battle Continuation (he has a ridiculous capability to live through things and just not die until he is good and ready to die, thank you very much). It's pretty much the best way I can think of to describe it. But yeah, he's...actually alarmingly powerful, his abilities are incredibly broken for FMA and he's primarily hindered by his lack of speed/reflexes, otherwise...yeah.

... well. He would've been fun to fight with in the Holy Grail War, but with his reflexes, he'd really suffer from it.

The general consensus for Saber's abilities (given that she can be customized at will by her Master), seems to be that STRENGTH ALL THE WAY, but as a Servant of the glorious Saber class (or so she'd preen as) and trying to compensate for a simple Master, her stats'd be:

Strength: A+
Defense: A
Agility: B
Magic: E
Luck: C

Her Magic Resistance is a weak C thanks to Migraines [B]. Her Noble Phantasm involves summoning previously mentioned theater which makes anything she aspires for come true, weakens her opponent and ignores their guard. Probably the most broken thing about her is that she has a skill called Imperial Privilege which states that "it's an ability that, due the insistence of the owner, Skills that are essentially impossible to possess can be obtained for a short period of time. In cases when the Rank is above A, even the "burden to the body" is acquired (such as Divinity)." Hers is set at rank EX, so the relevant Skills for her are Riding, swordsmanship, fine arts, Charisma, Military Tactics and others.

So Saber's strength comes from... thinking she can do whatever she wants because she damn well can.

Haha, I'm also a gigantic nerd and once in a while I get into this state of EVERYTHING IS HOLY GRAIL WAR in terms of figuring stats and skills for the sake of AU, because Holy Grail War AU is the best AU. It just is.

But yeah, seriously, if he had any indication of what she's capable of, he would want to throw down with this woman just because the experience sounds like it would be amazing. He's not immune to the draw of what can best be described as "twelve-year-old stupidcool", and the entire Holy Grail War thing, as it's been explained to him in Johto, just sounds about eleven million levels of awesome and pretty much the physical embodiment of twelve-year-old stupidcool. ...he also rather likes war for war's sake and actively enjoys being ordered around, so this entire thing is something he can get behind on so many levels. orz

There really should be a main game for such an AU... or just a game in general that allows people to play that out. Fate/Extra has an almost perfect presentation of it.

He might see her jumping more than a few double digits of feet up in the air or carrying stuff that looks like she wouldn't be capable of in her small frame... and that she can move a lot faster than normal humans should be capable of doing. Servants are the best combatants - Kimblee should joing the club! Or fight it.

He is going to do something about it, that's for sure. Probably fighting it. Because he is, again, astoundingly stupid and what are physical boundaries, they sound delicious.

...yeah seriously she is fortunate he's both taken and...mostly monogamous, fun activities after partying notwithstanding. ~~Totally not cheating if your boyfriend is present/participating, however.~~ He likely is going to want to say something to her after fourth-wall, however, even if it is just verifying whether he hallucinated that or not - he's also one for being, for lack of a better term, a thundering dork regarding magic and whatnot from other words. Because his abilities center around an ability to sense the way energy flows through things both living and inanimate, to say nothing of through the air itself, I can just imagine what the usage of a Noble Phantasm would look like in that regard, goodness lord.

So yes, basically I highly approve of Saber blowing his mind all you want during fourth-wall, he will be highly receptive and will probably geek out at her afterwards while trying to retain his composure because He Is A Proper Gentleman He Promises.
