A NEW RULE APPEARS
Hey, Route!
Yes, more new stuff. Everything chaaanges, chaaaanges, it's evolutionary~
1) New apps rule!:
In the interest of clarity and app processing speed, we now ask that potential applicants post their application in comments rather than linking. If the app contains explicit references to 'hard' spoilers (think big reveals, like 'Dumbledore dies', I SEE DEAD PEOPLE, I am your father etc), players should put the application in their own journal or their character's journal and link it, making sure to mention the presence of spoilers within.
We've always gotten linked apps (goodness knows I'm guilty of linking an app or five that was spoiler-free!), but having them all on the page means the mods don't have to open a million tabs while processing, and spoiler links keep fellow players from stumbling onto things that might ruin a canon for them.
This is a rule; as of today (the 11th of October), if your app is linked but not marked for spoilers, it will not be processed that week. We trust all our players will read and abide by the rules list, which has not changed besides this.
2) Polling about the passwords:
RELAX, we're not changing anything concerning passwords...yet. But we're thinking it's about time this thing got an overhaul, don't you think?
Our proposed fix: What we'd like to do is remove the passwords altogether and replace them with something of a task system: on the rules and FAQ pages, tasks such as 'explain in one sentence how your character feels about strawberries in their personality section' or 'include a link to your favorite youtube video in the canon links section'.
The goal here is to make sure people have at least given a cursory visit to both pages. These tasks would change arbitrarily and be located arbitrarily within the FAQ and rules. Yes, these would be more work for you, and for us, but the current password system feels outdated and obvious.

Yep, we're definitely going to work on making the task system (if we implement, nothing's set in stone, here) more FAQ- and Rules- related, like a quiz. And we'll also absolutely consider exempting veteran players if we do, as many of you have asked.
As for the apps--without repeating what I said to Aly up there, it's the app-stealing I'd like to address. I don't understand how linking deters app thieves...isn't the app public for the few days it's awaiting a verdict, anyway? If what worries you is the app staying up after acceptance, then of course, you can always PM the mods and ask us to screen it! We've done it in the past and we'll be happy to do it again in the future with any posted apps we receive, and we feel that would be safest and most convenient for everyone. We have the apps organized and on-file, other applicants can see what we look for, and applicants who don't want their app public can request to have it hidden from prying eyes.
Also, posting doesn't mean you can't put it in your journal, for your own convenience and that of castmates, as well as to fix any HTML mistakes you might find before you put it up for inspection. And as for typos...don't worry, we're a pretty forgiving bunch. We use computers, too! we know how finicky they can get.
I hope this cleared up some things and eased your mind concerning the new app rule! Thanks for taking the time to let us know your opinion. It's great to see everyone giving us feedback!

Glad to hear about the FAQs/Rules thing and concerning about the linking deterring app thieves, I think it's more on how some people screen their apps in their journal/musebox after. I personally don't feel this way when it comes to app stealing since I'm not very concerned about it, but I do know a few that are and they normally just feel better in knowing it's only in their journals/museboxes. They post it right on the day that apps get checked then quickly private it to themselves after acceptance. I guess they just feel best with that way and like I've said, I don't do this personally, but if I know at least two people that do, then I'm sure that there are more that do so.
However, hearing that comments can be screened does make it more reassuring and ease up my mind on this! My opinion is still preferring links due to looking neater and taking up less comment space, but seeing that the mods are understanding about it is a good sign.
So, thanks for replying and clearing a few things up!
