Who ordered a ghost swarm?

If you've glanced at the calendar, you'll notice that there's an upcoming swarm! It will run from the evening of October 23rd through the night of October 28th!

Starting the 21st, there will be a lot of rain everywhere in Johto and Kanto. By the 23rd, it'll look like the rain's finally coming to a stop. But a dense fog replaces the rain... almost makes you wish it was still raining.

Starting the morning of the 24th, ghost Pokémon will start appearing everywhere! With the fog, they won't be easy to spot, and it's likely they'll end up sneaking up on you and giving you quite the fright, whether they intend to or not. Some will be more... er... shall we say 'playful' than others. So expect to be trolled, tricked, and scared for the rest of the week.

Expect to see Gastly & Haunter, Shuppet, Misdreavus, Duskull, Drifloon & Drifblim, Litwick & Lampent peppering the roads, forests and even the cities! (You had a feeling those streetlights were a bit too fluttery...and blue...) For those traveling in caves and other rocky areas, you might run into Sableye! All ghost Pokémon will be catchable and will match the levels of the other Pokémon found in the wild in that particular area.

But wait, there's more! Yamask, as you all know, are Ghost type Pokémon, and they'll be around, too. It is said that, because all Yamask were once human, they retain memories of their former lives and carry around masks depicting the faces they once had. Putting on one of these masks will cause someone to become possessed by the Yamask in question. Well, with all the trickery going around... it is entirely possible for someone to suddenly find themselves slapped in the face with one of these masks. Oops!

- Masks can be put on voluntarily, tricked on, or forced on. It's up to you how!
- The mask will stay on for exactly two (2) days, and each character can only put on one (1) mask during this swarm. Choose wisely!
- Nobody else will be able to see this mask. Once it's on, it's pretty much invisible.
- Anyone with a mask on will take on a completely different personality for the entire time the mask is on. (So, two days.) The personality/history/person is up to you, but they will only be that person. For example, Charles puts on a mask on the 26th. For the 26th and the 27th, he is no longer Charles. He doesn't know who Charles is, has no recollection of anything Charles had ever done. Instead, he's Bob. He thinks he's always been Bob, and he feels like a million bucks.
- In fact, it's likely that Bob has some unfinished business to attend to now that he's back from the dead! Come to think of it, he always wanted to propose to his girlfriend. Or drink ten straight shots of tequila. Or catch the world's biggest Magikarp. So much to do, so little time!
- All memories of what happened during the two days the mask was on, as well as many of the memories of the Yamask will be retained. As soon as the mask falls off at the end of the second day, everything will suddenly become clear.

And, just to make things extra interesting, there are shinies involved, as well! That's right, there will be:
1 shiny Gastly
1 shiny Litwick
1 shiny Shuppet
1 shiny Duskull

So, just for a little bit of clarification...

Do the Yamasks possessing the characters know that they are ghosts who are possessing people? Or do they just kind of forget that they're dead for the duration and assume that they're in their original bodies? Like, using your example above, would Bob know that he's dead and possessing a body that isn't his own, even if he doesn't know who Charles is? Does he know he's dead but think it's his own body he's gotten back? Or does he just not remember being dead for the duration?

...Also, would they have definitely been from Johto/Kanto in their original lives, or can they be from other regions?

Oh, also also! Are the possessing Yamasks catchable too? Just for my reference.

They are as catchable as the rest! The other stuff is just a bonus. :)

Bob wouldn't know he died, or specifics like how/when he became a pokemon, but he would maybe have a sense of things being 'back to normal' and getting 'a second chance', so to speak. Hence, he'll feel a STRONG URGE to get things done that he wasn't able to do before! The ghosts can be from other regions, though a majority will be from Kanto and Johto, drawn back to the places they lived in.
