Rocket Chaos
Hey guys! Time for a ~ROUTE 29 GROUP DISCUSSION~
We know everyone's been rather on-edge about the recent plot, and a lot of you have been coming up with neat ideas, so I figured we could all discuss them, either with us or amongst each other!
The current Rockets Who Agreed To Go, and the New Rockets, will be sent on the Goldenrod Tower's mission.
But what about the ones kept in that dingy room? Their fate is in your hands... somewhat. This isn't a "one option fits all" sort of vote, but rather a heads-up poll on what will be going on. After all, some Grunts aren't fighting back, and some are plotting to escape. so for this, we'd like your input on what you want to happen, and what you want for your characters.
○ These are just the bare bones options; the discussion is there to help us all flesh them out!
VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: Rocket Grunts who break out, escape, or otherwise leave the Team Rocket will be REMOVED from Team Rocket. Arianna is weeding out traitors, and characters who leave will not be allowed back, at least not right now. Their statuses will all change from "Rocket Grunt" to "Trainer" (or "Breeder" if you specify). They won't start over in New Bark Town or be given Trainer Guides or aprons, they'll just be removed from the Rocket Network and formally placed as a default affiliation.
Also please remember that with all of these options, the timing will be left up to you, the players! On Friday, we will have a post up early with the next phase of the Goldenrod Takeover and the offered mission for the imprisoned Rockets, for those who choose Option A or B. Options C and D can be plotted and planned and possibly started as early as this weekend if everyone's on board.
Or if there are any other ideas you may have, any kinks you want to work out, feel free to shoot them at us and each other as well! And we'll see by Friday which ones work and which ones don't and hopefully get this chaos on the road!
ETA: ALSO, feel free to consider this a plotting post! By all means, discuss amongst yourselves!

Option A: You decide to stay as a Rocket. Later this week, one of the Executives will offer you another mission, and so you choose to accept it and carry on with this mission, you will stay with them.
Option B: You decide to accept the mission but use it as a means to escape. ie. Say the mission is to go to Violet City and steal new eggs. You could go via helicopter to Violet City and then just run off or hide away and ignore Rocket messages.
Option C: Break out. With enough plotting and determination, characters could probably team up and take down the grunt and his pokémon in order to escape. Feel free to plot together on how to take him down or scheme,
Option D: Be broken out. We know there's a few groups apparently planning to break into Rocket HQ to save their buddies. A break-out would mean not only compromising the base but also going up against other, stronger Rockets (most likely NPCs) and breaking through a giant, very powerfully-built door.
Option E: An Ultimatum: serve or be served. Either you can loyally choose to become a rocket (by taking the first option), or be exiled and publically outed as a rocket. Arianna makes an announcement open on the PokéConnect with your face and name, to announce that you are a rocket, meanwhile they possibly use a Hypno to erase half of your memories of the Team Rocket and the HQ (how much or how little is up to the individual players, but must contain where the booby traps are and the appearances of the Executives) and drop your confused self in a very random city.
Option F: None of the above, in which you give us lovely input on what you think would be fun or logical for your character!

And I was wondering... Daisuke Niwa willingly came back and probably has been sent to the Radio Tower and all, but could he somehow ditch Team Rocket afterwards? Because he wasn't captured forcefully from the start, so I thought this would be the way to do it. ;;
no subject
As for Daisuke, do you mean during the entire takeover deal or just when it's all done?
no subject
Sorry! I meant during the takeover.

OKAY I have a general question-- that can help with the whole rescue thing on some parts I guess. DUE TO THE WEATHER, the lakes between Ecruteak and Mahogany-- those... aren't frozen, right? I MEAN I remember back in December things were freezing over but with the sun coming up again in a few days and three days of hail would definitely break apart it if it was... Or even then it would just be The Worst Idea to walk on it I guess...
BASICALLY what I'm asking is: Rescue attempts still need to go through the mountain, y/n?
no subject
Either way, it's a challenge!
no subject
So if I am assuming the time frame right, it's going to be unsafe to use the lake to cross starting sometime next week? SORRY IF I AM BEING ANNOYING I just want to figure this out since Hayate would be willing to go help Lucifer if he can zip right across it
... AND EVEN THEN he might just try crossing it to get back regardless since hey so much faster. He'll just prolly fall in on the way back and end up a little sick from freezing water :|a

Maybe mid/late next week! The weather next week hasn't been fully planned yet but we could probably have it "coincidentally" cooperate with the break-in crew.

Though I'll second Kev on the... probably needing to figure out the travel routes, water-wise, or if it's mountain-trekking a gogo.
no subject
Travel-wise both routes are open, though they'd have to walk on ice and have a trickier time escaping if they do.

... yes something like that 8'D

As for this character specifically, he'll probably attempt to aid those who are trying to break out/break in, but will probably ultimately choose to stay with Team Rocket out of an obligation to keep track of their movements. :C

Here to say that Niou, regardless of what happens, will be taking Option A. He likes being part of a winning team; it's what he's used to. Plus, this place is fucking lush. And he gets to be the bad guy. What's not to love?
There are two caveats, though: if either Asmodeus or Fuji decides to break out, he will assist their escape. I'd rather he not be booted for it, if that's swingable? Punishment/reprimand/pay docking, whatever else is fine, but I'd really rather he stay with the Rockets.

I think what we'd need is an opporunity for these characters to coordinate their efforts and plan. Somebody either amongst the captives/rescuers to suggest the possibility and get people started on exploring it and figuring out their timing.

Mammon, Keiichi and Hayate are going to break in to the Rocket Base to get Lucifer, Asmodeus and Sakutaro out. K1 and Hayate are heading over there after the hail stops over the lake, annnnnd if the whole big operation in Goldenrod is while they're there, they will jump right into it since HEY less people there to defend them. And if not, they will (hopefully) be a bit more subtle about it. EITHER WAY I think they'll shoot for doing it on Friday or Saturday? Then they will likely HIGHTAIL IT back across the lake regardless of the state of it at the time.
Styx said Asmodeus is going to drag Zuko out with her, so aside from that yeah since Mammon is heading it up they will kind of just be going in for the Umineko folks.
... mainly since Hayate and K1 don't know who else is captured and so on. Or in Mammon's case, just doesn't care. Ha ha ha.
SO YEAH if other groups want to grab their own people they can do that still, maybe the prisoners can be split up a bit at the time so it won't be hilariously awkward when they don't grab everyone? ARE WE GOOD WITH THIS, those who are involved? :|a
/mammon-mun
except I know that Hayate and K1 are going to attempt sliding across the lake when they're going back to Ecruteak... is that where they part ways or 8|a
Re: /mammon-mun
Re: /mammon-mun
Re: /mammon-mun
well yeah I suppose that is true-- though either way Hayate will take that option, since heeeey super fast. And I'm sure if they just..... spread out they could all make it easily. I mean K1 probably weighs the most out of all of them.
Re: /mammon-mun
Yeah, okay. I guess that makes sense. They can celebrate their breakout by sliding on the ice! Yeah.

I also find it incredibly troubling that we're doing the tower takeover and the rescues during the same time period. We have a small number of rockets compared to trainers and I don't really see how we can spread them thinly like that. Granted, we all know the trainers are going to win because that's the nature of the canon. But we shouldn't have planned it so a large number of trainers can gang up on a very small number of rockets like this.
And finally I still have no idea how any of this is actually going to be structured. Is there going to be a log? Two logs for the radio tower and the rescues? Individual logs for whoever wants one? Posts on the journals? Throwing my character into something where I have absolutely no idea what's going on makes me really nervous. I'm considering skipping out on or hand waving the event even though it would be ooc for Shinji not to jump in on this just because I hesitate in participating in anything when I'm not given all of the information I need.
I don't think my concerns can really be fixed in time but I really hope future events are better planned than this one was.

For the Rockets, there aren't just the player-character ones, but we also have a nice handful of NPCs to give larger numbers. Not a lot of people apply for Rockets so waiting for that amount to reach a higher number would stifle Rocket plots almost indefinitely. The NPCs are there to balance it out at least a little bit, or to give them more handwaved space to go by.
As for the structure, we'll have more about that in the Friday post. We're currently trying to finish smoothing out whatever bumps we still have so it's easier for everyone to end up playing out. Unfortunately, we can't fix all of your concerns immediately, but we can and do apologize for the trouble it's caused you. This hasn't been the easiest plot to work through, but hopefully there's a way you'll still be able to participate.

I read friday's post and it just honestly left me more confused and with more questions I'm trying to work out. I don't really understand why you guys never came up and still haven't really come up with a timeline for any of this. Also, there's still information about the goldenrod radio takeover that you haven't given out. I don't understand why you're waiting to give out more information about a plot that's already supposed to happen very soon. This whole thing just comes off as incredibly rushed.
I'm not trying to be rude and I do appreciate the obvious work that has gone into this plot. But without having access to the important information that I need to participate in an event I'm thinking I'm just going to sit this one out.
no subject
We chose to sit the new Rocket instructions out because we figured the players would prefer a post that looked more prepared and made more sense, rather than three sleep-deprived mods making lots of mistakes and forgetting details. The next step for the Goldenrod Rockets is to secure jobs to establish presence at the Tower and get better acquainted with the place. The step following that will be the mission, but they're not going to do that right after they get the job. The Rocket Execs know that they'll need at least a little time in order to make this fool-proof, so they're going to be there longer.
I'm sorry that you feel the need to sit this plot out. But if you have any specific questions, we can do our best to answer them, in the hopes that it'll make more sense to you.
