Rocket Chaos

Hey guys! Time for a ~ROUTE 29 GROUP DISCUSSION~

We know everyone's been rather on-edge about the recent plot, and a lot of you have been coming up with neat ideas, so I figured we could all discuss them, either with us or amongst each other!

The current Rockets Who Agreed To Go, and the New Rockets, will be sent on the Goldenrod Tower's mission.

But what about the ones kept in that dingy room? Their fate is in your hands... somewhat. This isn't a "one option fits all" sort of vote, but rather a heads-up poll on what will be going on. After all, some Grunts aren't fighting back, and some are plotting to escape. so for this, we'd like your input on what you want to happen, and what you want for your characters.

○ These are just the bare bones options; the discussion is there to help us all flesh them out!

Option A: You decide to stay as a Rocket. Later this week, one of the Executives will offer you another mission, and so you choose to accept it and carry on with this mission, you will stay with them.

Option B: You decide to accept the mission but use it as a means to escape. ie. Say the mission is to go to Violet City and steal new eggs. You could go via helicopter to Violet City and then just run off or hide away and ignore Rocket messages.

Option C: Break out. With enough plotting and determination, characters could probably team up and take down the grunt and his pokémon in order to escape. Feel free to plot together on how to take him down or scheme,

Option D: Be broken out. We know there's a few groups apparently planning to break into Rocket HQ to save their buddies. A break-out would mean not only compromising the base but also going up against other, stronger Rockets (most likely NPCs) and breaking through a giant, very powerfully-built door.

Option E: An Ultimatum: serve or be served. Either you can loyally choose to become a rocket (by taking the first option), or be exiled and publically outed as a rocket. Arianna makes an announcement open on the PokéConnect with your face and name, to announce that you are a rocket, meanwhile they possibly use a Hypno to erase half of your memories of the Team Rocket and the HQ (how much or how little is up to the individual players, but must contain where the booby traps are and the appearances of the Executives) and drop your confused self in a very random city.

Option F: None of the above, in which you give us lovely input on what you think would be fun or logical for your character!

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: Rocket Grunts who break out, escape, or otherwise leave the Team Rocket will be REMOVED from Team Rocket. Arianna is weeding out traitors, and characters who leave will not be allowed back, at least not right now. Their statuses will all change from "Rocket Grunt" to "Trainer" (or "Breeder" if you specify). They won't start over in New Bark Town or be given Trainer Guides or aprons, they'll just be removed from the Rocket Network and formally placed as a default affiliation.

Also please remember that with all of these options, the timing will be left up to you, the players! On Friday, we will have a post up early with the next phase of the Goldenrod Takeover and the offered mission for the imprisoned Rockets, for those who choose Option A or B. Options C and D can be plotted and planned and possibly started as early as this weekend if everyone's on board.

Or if there are any other ideas you may have, any kinks you want to work out, feel free to shoot them at us and each other as well! And we'll see by Friday which ones work and which ones don't and hopefully get this chaos on the road!

ETA: ALSO, feel free to consider this a plotting post! By all means, discuss amongst yourselves!

Maybe there's a way to combine both C and D if people want to plot out everything c:

[identity profile] buttpinched.livejournal.com 2011-02-07 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup! The people who want to break out can use the distraction from the people who want to break in and viceversa!

[identity profile] wantnotneed.livejournal.com 2011-02-07 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Mammon (not a Rocket) had been attempting to rescue her sisters and Sakutaro for days/weeks, but only to have her plans foiled every single time. But perhaps with option D, she could finally get lucky? Most of her Pokemon are in the 50/60s area, so she feels very confident, despite the failures before.

And I was wondering... Daisuke Niwa willingly came back and probably has been sent to the Radio Tower and all, but could he somehow ditch Team Rocket afterwards? Because he wasn't captured forcefully from the start, so I thought this would be the way to do it. ;;

[identity profile] tsunpresident.livejournal.com 2011-02-07 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay! I'll take that into consideration.

Sorry! I meant during the takeover.

[identity profile] tsunpresident.livejournal.com 2011-02-07 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Alright, cool! Thank you very much \o
combat_butler: (Let me just think about that one--)

[personal profile] combat_butler 2011-02-07 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
teaaaaaam rocket's kickin' people ouuuuut ...... not as catchy

OKAY I have a general question-- that can help with the whole rescue thing on some parts I guess. DUE TO THE WEATHER, the lakes between Ecruteak and Mahogany-- those... aren't frozen, right? I MEAN I remember back in December things were freezing over but with the sun coming up again in a few days and three days of hail would definitely break apart it if it was... Or even then it would just be The Worst Idea to walk on it I guess...

BASICALLY what I'm asking is: Rescue attempts still need to go through the mountain, y/n?
combat_butler: (But who's going to clean your underwear?)

[personal profile] combat_butler 2011-02-07 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Ohhhh, okay then. I am just so weirded out by it being cold enough to freeze over an entire lake lmao.

So if I am assuming the time frame right, it's going to be unsafe to use the lake to cross starting sometime next week? SORRY IF I AM BEING ANNOYING I just want to figure this out since Hayate would be willing to go help Lucifer if he can zip right across it

... AND EVEN THEN he might just try crossing it to get back regardless since hey so much faster. He'll just prolly fall in on the way back and end up a little sick from freezing water :|a

As far as I know, Ven, Aqua, Terra, and Rise will be booking it to Mahogany to get in on a SAVE THE PRISONERS attempt (and also because Rise's BFFs might still be around the area), and I know that Ven and Terra and Rise all have high-leveled Pokémon, in the eighties being the highest for a few of them. So I like the idea of combining Option C and D, personally. If there are other rescue groups, a teamup might go better for everyone involved.

Though I'll second Kev on the... probably needing to figure out the travel routes, water-wise, or if it's mountain-trekking a gogo.

[identity profile] little-anchor.livejournal.com 2011-02-08 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
Teaming up would probably have the highest logical success rate. I think there are a few others, so they probably won't be the only ones! And if anything, everyone can get a bit of plotting done together.

Travel-wise both routes are open, though they'd have to walk on ice and have a trickier time escaping if they do.

[identity profile] restardom.livejournal.com 2011-02-08 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
HEY GUYS

WHO WANTS TO FORM A MOB :DDDDDD

[personal profile] bakaitoukid 2011-02-07 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Combining C and D is a good idea! :3 And maybe excommunicating the Rockets who do escape/are rescued, to throw in a bit of E as well.

[identity profile] bufudyned.livejournal.com 2011-02-08 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
IT WILL HAPPEN

I like options C + D because that seems like the one that will require a lot of player participation, and a large player-plot would be fun. :Da

As for this character specifically, he'll probably attempt to aid those who are trying to break out/break in, but will probably ultimately choose to stay with Team Rocket out of an obligation to keep track of their movements. :C

Otterrrr Riseeee.

GET OUT

He is a true frieeeeeeeeend.

[personal profile] reveiller 2011-02-09 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
NEVER

Something like thaaaaaaat. .... sob. He's a nice person. He's just. Weird. idk

[identity profile] psychunaut.livejournal.com 2011-02-07 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Now, Raz wasn't imprisoned... but looking at option B, that's most likely what he'll be doing. Erm, with the use of a Charmeleon and Smokescreen (hey, he's using his pokemon to replicate powers the best he can man), and running away to the nearest good hiding place (for who knows how long). Just so people know what I'm planning with him -- even though he's not a prisoner, he kinda knows he's in over his head, and wants out.

[identity profile] mineisanevillol.livejournal.com 2011-02-07 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I like option C, Patti would not hesitant to break out and take down a few Rocket grunts in the process =D

[identity profile] usedcalmmind.livejournal.com 2011-02-08 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
I think these are all fine options. /strokes chin

Here to say that Niou, regardless of what happens, will be taking Option A. He likes being part of a winning team; it's what he's used to. Plus, this place is fucking lush. And he gets to be the bad guy. What's not to love?

There are two caveats, though: if either Asmodeus or Fuji decides to break out, he will assist their escape. I'd rather he not be booted for it, if that's swingable? Punishment/reprimand/pay docking, whatever else is fine, but I'd really rather he stay with the Rockets.

[identity profile] little-anchor.livejournal.com 2011-02-08 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
Would he be staying at the base? He can probably play innocent and watch them escape if he doesn't leave, or if he comes back immediately, perhaps?

[identity profile] leporariusnero.livejournal.com 2011-02-08 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, he won't be leaving at any point, just assisting from inside by occupying guards (read: being really annoying), arranging for distractions (see fire alarms), setting traps, etc.

[identity profile] little-anchor.livejournal.com 2011-02-08 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
Then he can stay as a Rocket! As long as he's there, they'll take it as him wanting to stay, even if he's driving them up the walls. XD

[identity profile] notafussbudget.livejournal.com 2011-02-08 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
Awesome. 8Db Thanks! ♥
dragonspeak: (Okay--let's just think about this)

[personal profile] dragonspeak 2011-02-08 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
C & D! Even if Merlin probably won't be able to join in, it should be a lot of fun to watch |DDD

[identity profile] freshbreeze.livejournal.com 2011-02-08 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
C & D seem like a good way to go. Merlin and Ven were already talking about coordinating with the captives, and the ones I know of aren't slouches in fights. The captives starting the jailbreak on one end and rescue groups swooping in on the other could serve as a two-pronged attack and leave those Rockets not dispatched to Goldenrod with more trouble than they bargained for.

I think what we'd need is an opporunity for these characters to coordinate their efforts and plan. Somebody either amongst the captives/rescuers to suggest the possibility and get people started on exploring it and figuring out their timing.
combat_butler: (Ooooonnnneee mooooore thiiiiing.)

[personal profile] combat_butler 2011-02-08 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
ALL RIGHT SO;

Mammon, Keiichi and Hayate are going to break in to the Rocket Base to get Lucifer, Asmodeus and Sakutaro out. K1 and Hayate are heading over there after the hail stops over the lake, annnnnd if the whole big operation in Goldenrod is while they're there, they will jump right into it since HEY less people there to defend them. And if not, they will (hopefully) be a bit more subtle about it. EITHER WAY I think they'll shoot for doing it on Friday or Saturday? Then they will likely HIGHTAIL IT back across the lake regardless of the state of it at the time.

Styx said Asmodeus is going to drag Zuko out with her, so aside from that yeah since Mammon is heading it up they will kind of just be going in for the Umineko folks.

... mainly since Hayate and K1 don't know who else is captured and so on. Or in Mammon's case, just doesn't care. Ha ha ha.

SO YEAH if other groups want to grab their own people they can do that still, maybe the prisoners can be split up a bit at the time so it won't be hilariously awkward when they don't grab everyone? ARE WE GOOD WITH THIS, those who are involved? :|a

[identity profile] devaluing.livejournal.com 2011-02-08 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
I'M GOOD WITH THIS /o/

except I know that Hayate and K1 are going to attempt sliding across the lake when they're going back to Ecruteak... is that where they part ways or 8|a

[personal profile] combat_butler 2011-02-08 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
... I'M FINE WITH THEM COMING BACK TO ECRUTEAK WITH THEM-?! I mean Hayate will frown if Mammon comes but I can't imagine K1 wanting to ditch Lucifer after the rescue-- also it would be the path to getting back to Beatrice so... idk?!

Re: /mammon-mun

[identity profile] devaluing.livejournal.com 2011-02-08 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
ROFL. No, I meant, uh... I don't think everyone will feel safe sliding across a lake with THAT MANY PEOPLE. ;; So some might want to opt by going through the cave or idk

Re: /mammon-mun

[personal profile] combat_butler 2011-02-08 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
OH. HAHA.

well yeah I suppose that is true-- though either way Hayate will take that option, since heeeey super fast. And I'm sure if they just..... spread out they could all make it easily. I mean K1 probably weighs the most out of all of them.

Re: /mammon-mun

[identity profile] devaluing.livejournal.com 2011-02-08 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
ROFLMAO.

Yeah, okay. I guess that makes sense. They can celebrate their breakout by sliding on the ice! Yeah.

SOUNDS LIKE A PLAN

[identity profile] usedspite.livejournal.com 2011-02-10 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I have to be honest. I was really confused about how this event was going down and I had to have several people privately explain it to me. I still can't find any dates and I was told privately that the takeover of the radio tower was happening tomorrow and the rescues were happening over the weekend. As someone that plays a rocket not having a predefined schedule is troubling. Usually when there's an event I try to make sure and plan so that I have free time to do the event. I'm pretty lucky I didn't actually have anything planned this weekend.

I also find it incredibly troubling that we're doing the tower takeover and the rescues during the same time period. We have a small number of rockets compared to trainers and I don't really see how we can spread them thinly like that. Granted, we all know the trainers are going to win because that's the nature of the canon. But we shouldn't have planned it so a large number of trainers can gang up on a very small number of rockets like this.

And finally I still have no idea how any of this is actually going to be structured. Is there going to be a log? Two logs for the radio tower and the rescues? Individual logs for whoever wants one? Posts on the journals? Throwing my character into something where I have absolutely no idea what's going on makes me really nervous. I'm considering skipping out on or hand waving the event even though it would be ooc for Shinji not to jump in on this just because I hesitate in participating in anything when I'm not given all of the information I need.

I don't think my concerns can really be fixed in time but I really hope future events are better planned than this one was.
dreamship: (Default)

[personal profile] dreamship 2011-02-11 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sorry that this came off as very confusing! A lot of this is winging things and adjusting certain parts as problems and player input comes to us. The extra adjustments and input aren't working as smoothly as we originally planned for, but hopefully we can at least make it fun somewhat in the end.

For the Rockets, there aren't just the player-character ones, but we also have a nice handful of NPCs to give larger numbers. Not a lot of people apply for Rockets so waiting for that amount to reach a higher number would stifle Rocket plots almost indefinitely. The NPCs are there to balance it out at least a little bit, or to give them more handwaved space to go by.

As for the structure, we'll have more about that in the Friday post. We're currently trying to finish smoothing out whatever bumps we still have so it's easier for everyone to end up playing out. Unfortunately, we can't fix all of your concerns immediately, but we can and do apologize for the trouble it's caused you. This hasn't been the easiest plot to work through, but hopefully there's a way you'll still be able to participate.

[identity profile] usedspite.livejournal.com 2011-02-11 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
My concerns about the rocket problem make much more sense with the recent post. I was under the assumption that the player Rockets were going to be split between goldenrod and the mahogany.

I read friday's post and it just honestly left me more confused and with more questions I'm trying to work out. I don't really understand why you guys never came up and still haven't really come up with a timeline for any of this. Also, there's still information about the goldenrod radio takeover that you haven't given out. I don't understand why you're waiting to give out more information about a plot that's already supposed to happen very soon. This whole thing just comes off as incredibly rushed.

I'm not trying to be rude and I do appreciate the obvious work that has gone into this plot. But without having access to the important information that I need to participate in an event I'm thinking I'm just going to sit this one out.
