GOLDENROD CITY
DAY 25/11. 00:16.

This Machine will appear numerous times throughout the course of the event. You can see and approach it but it will teleport before anyone else is able to catch it. Sometimes, the land around the machine will begin to appear pixelated or glitched. Perhaps the world is breaking? Or maybe that's just your eyes playing tricks on you. You may try to attack it if you will, add another dent or two by rock. It will just disappear each time.

DAY 25/11. 00:00.
Professor Elm knew it's coming. He prepared this time, with Professor Oak connected on the phones as they counted down the minutes. For some reason, when the chaos began, it always started at midnight. Every six months or so, they had a mess on their hands. He was determined to fix it, any way he could. ...if it was even possible. The clock changed. Nothing happened. "Um... Professor Oak? Did you see any flashes of light yet?" Elm asked into the screen, a tight grip on the receiver he held. Oak took a second to glance out of the window, using the opportunity to sip his coffee. As he turned back, he shook his head in disappointment. "Perhaps our clocks are running fast," he suggested. Elm checked his watch again, looked at the wall, and shook his head. "We line up perfectly with Sinnoh and Unova Standard Time, so I don't think it's our clocks... Perhaps it's not happening today." There was silence. Two minutes of silence followed, and Oak yawned. "You young'uns are keeping me up way past my bedtime." |

DAY 25/11. 00:02.
There was a machine. Large, silver, and covered in buttons and odd symbols, it sat there, surprisingly upright. The metal was slowly worn and dinged, having been kicked and attacked a few dozen times, corners scratched from falling and rolling. One entire side was covered in mud. It sat in a small forest, the deep vegetation surrounding it slowly growing around the bottom. The machine had, surprisingly, withstood much of the odd, flip-flopping weather of the year. Outside of numerous Magnemite, a young Rotom had begun to lurk around, quite determined to possess this new monstrosity. Throughout the cold onslaught of weather, it sat inside the machine, trying to see if it could spark it to life. Unfortunately, he just wasn't given enough time. After suffering from a barrage of nonstop sleet, including growing, frozen drops that landed right along a particular scratch, the machine buzzed uncomfortably. A loud electrical buzz rumbled deep within the metal base, followed by two sharp sparks-- And then the machine was gone. The young Rotom, who had been testing his limits, was left alone in the vegetation. |
GOLDENROD CITY
DAY 25/11. 00:16.
It had been a late night for Proton. While he normally didn't turn in early, he usually didn't spend much of his extra time focused on work when night fell and Ariana didn't force him on missions. Tonight, with his trusty tablet in hand, he had been sitting outside of the base, dressed conspicuously as a civilian. Tonight was going to be a good night, he could feel it. He was suppose to make a 'trade'--more commonly known as blackmail and clever theft--with an unsuspecting yet wealthy citizen who had traveled from another region. (Which region was it, again? It didn't matter, so long as he got paid.) Faulty pokéball in hand, he made his way down the quiet, dark streets towards the rendezvous point. The 'never releasing' pokéball would be tested out tonight against the stranger. Business, as usual. Only steps away from the edge of the route, a loud flash blinded him, hand opening in surprise. As his tablet fell from under his arm and his umbrella blew a few feet away, the pokéball bounced forward--only to be replaced by a giant, clunky, beat-up machine. It had been only one inch from squishing his toes. But more importantly, Proton knew this machine. He had messed around with it, had spent so many months tweaking and programming and wiring it--and it was do damaged. Eyes widened in shock, Proton reached out, gloved hand trying to touch the machine. Unfortunately, as stretched fingers just barely brushed the metal, it disappeared from his view, leaving nothing but a crushed pokéball and a very horrified young man standing before Proton. And a second later, the man disappeared too, only to be replaced by a complete stranger staring right at him. The individual didn't even look like she was from this world. Proton glanced forward, realizing that the rain no longer seemed to pour on his uncovered shoulders. However, it didn't stop the ground from being soaked... nor did it stop his tablet from soaking in all the water. ...and that one was a birthday present, too! He wasn't even certain what to be mad about first. |
