4th Wall Weekend

4th WALL WEEKEND!
HAPPY 3RD BIRTHDAY,
ROUTE 29!

The event will take place from Friday, May 31st to Sunday, June 2nd!

I'm sure you've all see how beautiful our weather has been lately. The heat's gotten a little out of control, to the point where even the electronics can feel it. Our little machine, whom we all so dearly love, is definitely sweating in its circuits. In short, the heat completely fries and breaks it.

Because of this, Applications will be closed until June 15th-16th. (You may want to leave your plans kind of open until then, just so ya know.)

But it also means we get our bi-yearly weekend visitors. As the Rockets send out a squad to hopefully locate this machine, our yearly chaos runs amok for the rest of us.

That's not all! While the portal summoning the visitors closes at midnight, EST on Sunday, the chaos does not end there. But that's another story.

As usual, following the cue from a mod post, there will be a loud crack and a flash of white light in our regions of Johto and Kanto. When your characters blink a few times, the scene before their eyes will return to normal... however... there will be a lot more people, or beings, in the cities, or along the routes, or even just trolling about on the PokéConnect.

Paths will be absurdly easy to travel, or, if you want, uncommonly difficult. It can take as long or as little as you want it to in order to go from city to city, and you can check out whatever building you want. Hell, if your character is accidentally caught in the glitch, they may wake up in an unfamiliar place!

What's a fourth wall, you ask?
The Fourth Wall event is where people from other games, random characters, even players themselves, just randomly interact with your characters. It's a literal breaking of that invisible "fourth wall" that separates the game-verse from... the rest of the internet.

How do you participate?
In short, a character makes a post in their journal and others tag it. You could tag other entries if you don't want to make a post. You do not have to use just your character journal to tag; you can use characters from other games, crack accounts, player accounts, and the like, to interact with the character who made the post. We would like to request that you keep all fourth wall activities to your character journals and not the logs community because of the security settings on the logs community (however, feel free to log in your journals).

What kind of characters can participate?
Anything and everything, from AU versions to characters in-game or those from other games, ponies, disembodied heads, zombies, Arceus with a saddle, the players, Hello Kitty, and the list goes on... You can choose whether your character remembers the previous fourth wall or not.

THE ONLY EXCEPTION: GEN VI POKÉMON ARE NOT ALLOWED.

Will my character remember the 4th wall?
Your character will remember some events as an actual event in-game. The machine itself will confuse most of the thoughts, but your character can remember parts! Just like last time, memories will still be somewhat fractured and mixed up, but they are honest to goodness memories.

As well as the three-day time difference. There's no explanation for that one. The Professors won't make excuses--they just won't say anything. To make it worse, you may not be where you were last... feel free to remain where you traveled during the incident, or anywhere else...

What about people coming in, can they have a pokémon too?
Sure thing! You can bring in any pokémon from any generation and challenge whoever you want for however much you want. Feel free to knock down or burn down anything. Current players are also allowed to have whatever else they want in their party, but your party will return to what you had in-game after the event.

What if I don't want to participate?
The fourth wall is not a required event. However, it does affect the game's setting, so logging would have to be backdated or forward-dated to before or after the fourth wall. Please keep in mind that due to the size of the game, your posts may get lost in the event-related posts. If you choose not to participate, your character may enter a glitch or be asleep during the event.

What if I just arrived and haven't made an in-character introduction post yet?
Feel free to arrive in the middle of the event! Your character will probably just be that much more confused. You may also hold off until after the event if you wish, in order to not become lost in the confusion.

Would my non-human character remain in their form for the event? What about powers?
Up to you! Your character can return to their original form, powers intact, or whatever you like! Have fun.

Can my character catch pokémon during the event?
Yes, they may. However, they won't be able to keep all of them. Feel free to saddle your character with some odd pokémon they weren't expecting to have, like that odd Magikarp that happened to swim in their packs. Those not listed on the normal routes may not be kept; but you may have your character keep a pokémon that is not on their current route of travel.

Does this count for the activity check?
Yes. Yes, it does. :D

Are characters in the Pokemon series able to be brought in as well? And if so, can they only be characters who aren't NPCs in Johto/Kanto or can they be anyone?

Okay good, so no one will mind when I throw Blaine in this.

Thank you very much!

If say a clone of a character appears to cause mischief and does certain crimes (specifically robbing a Pokemart and possibly assault on an innocent worker), would said character get penalty for it instead of the clone? Would there be any penalty at all?

How do you feel about Gen VI Pokémon making an appearance? Not keeping them, obviously, but just showing up for the duration of the event.

in other words, can we ride gogoats

No penalties during 4th wall unless you wish it so! The Jenny's normally let bygones be bygones during the 4th wall events, because they're never sure who to blame.

Got it! Thank you!

I've been wanting to run something by you guys, and this post looks like the place.

If I recall, based on past events/info, our characters are in a game. It's been treated as a digital space before, like a real videogame would be. That being the case, what would a data-manipulating character like Dataku be capable of finding out?

I'd like to make it something simple with a follow-up next 4th wall I'd seek permission on at that time. In this case, can he access the data of this world and to what degree? Per canon, can he make objects appear? Nothing godmod-worthy, of course.

Ah also, is Cerulean Cave restricted entry under normal circumstances?

Makes sense. Thanks for answering!

What is the rule on keeping pokemon that might not know moves that they would've learned naturally?

(Basically like finding a Pokemon with an egg move or two, nothing like an HM or TM move or something.)

What about Shinies?
