re: Poll

Alright guys, brief announcement.

We're going to end the poll on January 11, 11:59 PM EST.

There was an overwhelming majority leaning towards ending it early, but we want to make sure there's a plan in mind with all moderators on board when the poll results are calculated. Therefore, we've bumped it two extra days.

We'll announce the result and Route's next plan of action on January 12.

I know you guys are trying to get all mods on board and calculate a decision, but five days is an awfully long time to wait when the game is already in a lull. I honestly feel like this is killing the game. Players are afraid to post because the game might move or LJ is giving them too much trouble. Others are impatient and want a quick decision.

116 players voted as of yesterday, there might be more now. I'd assume most of the playerbase has voted already.

I apologize if I sound rude or blunt. I'm just being honest here as someone who enjoys the game and doesn't want it to tank.

EDIT: And lemme clarify that I don't expect a move to happen overnight. It'd just be nice to have a decision made so people can prepare.

Stormy here, sorry I haven't switched accounts. It's just adding two days to the other decision. We're not doing this just for the players; the date was chosen so all the moderators would be around for the voting, namely the one who was busy the entire break and is flying halfway around the world and trying to get re-settled with everything as well as jet lag.

Yes, I understand there's a slump in playing right now, but I'm pretty sure the playing will most likely pick up once the full decision is made. After all, we mods have to prepare for everything too, not only just data but as players as well. I want to finalize everything just as much as others, but I'd rather make sure we've got everything planned and on board instead of trying to rush through anything.

Unfortunately, this move is going to take a bit of time and patience. I know it's going to go into a bit of a lull from the wait, but it's most likely better longterm if all of the moderators were on the same page in terms of what we'll be doing with the game. That's why we bumped the date; we want to finalize it, but we want to make sure we know where we're going from this point, and it's better if we can give more information on what will happen next instead of just the results of the poll.

+1 to the above

Not sure if this is overstepping or anything, as I understand like the person above me that you all want to make sure this is done properly but I agree with their comments entirely.

It's taken me a week to do something like six tags and normally I am usually one of the quickest taggers ever, yet I really want to play here, I just can't. I get white screens almost every time I load the page, but I'm trying my best to get through this struggle. The morale has really dropped for the game though, so it's hard to keep going at full force when a lot of people are twiddling their thumbs as well.

I also don't think it's quite fair to do a poll to end it on the 9th then change your mind to a later date. If the 35+ votes for this didn't prove it already that people would like a decision sooner, I'm not sure what will.

I really don't mean to be offensive or anything with this, I'm just trying to say that while you may want to get together to talk to handle the results of the poll, it would be more fair to the community to let us know what is going on as soon as possible.

Route is like a home to me, and I really don't want to lose that.

We chose the 16th to make sure latecomers and those gone on holiday would still get to vote, and ending it early is rather unfair to them have they not voted already; however, it's only being changed by two days which really is not a large difference.

And if we ended it on the 9th, we still wouldn't be able to get the votes or next plan of action out to the players because the mod team hasn't been able to sit down and discuss anything. It would be rather counterproductive to just go "we're moving to X-site" or "we're staying at livejournal" without being able to say what will happen next.

The ninth was me jumping the gun a bit to begin with and for that I'm sorry. It was more of a show of hands and not a complete deciding factor; however, I found out this morning that if we ended it early, we wouldn't be able to have all mods on board, and there's no reason keeping it closed and not reporting results with nothing to show besides a number. The date's only being changed so we can have a proper plan of action for the players. We can't tell you guys what we're doing if we don't even know what we're doing.

Yet again, no offense with this but I'm a little confused how you guys haven't discussed this at all, despite everything going on for around two weeks already. I understand that Ara has been busy and is travelling back etc, that I can account for. It's just... confusing that you didn't just set up a private plurk between you all to at least come up with basic ideas of what to do either way.

Comparing to other games that have only taken a week to decide then only a day to move if that's the final decision, it just seems a little... weird that you haven't at least tossed both ideas around a little?

Though I disagree with what you suggest on the last part. It takes a while for people to import journals, so if that was the decision made people could be at least preparing. Route is journal based after all, and it will take time to import so many journals if that's the case - especially as I saw the comment saying that none of the mods wish to change this style.

I really hope I don't sound offensive with this comment, I'm just kind of '...'ing at what you said about not talking about this at all yet. As a player in a game, it just seems a little disappointing? I don't want to step on anyone's toes with this, it's just kind of disheartening and all.

I agree. I think a part of this mess is that the poll wasn't multiple choice. I imagine that if it had been, this wouldn't be quite as difficult to work out. But also, I feel like it would have been a good idea to have a plan in mind when the poll went up on the off chance that a move did happen.

I also don't think a move is as complicated as it's being made out to be. Not quite, anyway. Let's look at Luceti as an example. It's an even larger journal-based game that managed to move very quickly, getting back in action within a matter of days. All that had to be done was copy and paste all the info from the LJ comms and have people join the comms, comment to the add/remove list, etc.

It'd undoubtedly be work for the mod team, and I understand if you're all a bit busy, but I'm still erring on the side of caution here. Would have been nice to have some kind of backup set up to ease the potential movement or something. Or just sort out the results and make a timeline that people can use as a reference.

I'm not trying to start an argument or chew you mods out, but it's frustrating as a longtime player. If we have to wait, so be it, but I just hope the game doesn't suffer for it.

It's not that we haven't talked about it at all, it's just that we don't have a clear plan of action planned for all of us and it's easier to have everything planned and situated before announcing it. And, if we're to move, we want to make sure all of the mods are completely on board for everything that'll happen. And that's the main issue we've had due to the holidays.
