More Updates! Language and Applications
SUP BITCHES!
Actually in all seriousness, SUP BIT--/SHOT.
Hey guys! Stormy here, with a super special giant announcement. We came to an official decision on the language barrier.
Copied from the F.A.Q.:
After hearing what you all had to say, we decided it would be easier to just make two languages: human, and pokémon. Since you're all worrying about what to do and how to take care of pokémon and what to do, it'll just be easier if languages aren't there as well. And we won't have to add on extra policing on our part.
Unfortunately, time for the less exciting news.
Okami and I were quite disappointed with the amount of people we heard either had not read the F.A.Q. or were just choosing to ignore it, so we have now added passwords to the application. They are in the Rules and the Frequently Asked Questions, and they will be changed every month or so. Please be sure to put them in your applications from now on!
Also, we updated the Pokémon page to include starters and availability, if you haven't seen those already.
Now back to your regularly scheduled battling~

Copied from the F.A.Q.:
Can we understand each other? Is there still a language barrier?
Nope, Route 29 no longer has a language barrier! All humans and human-like beings can now understand each other. They're all speaking an unknown, common language, even though it flows from their tongue as naturally as their native one. Almost everything is typed and spoken in this language. When it comes to written material, characters who focus long enough can write in their native language, but most times it comes out written in the common language. Unfortunately, characters cannot switch between verbal languages and characters who are able to talk to animals will not be able to talk to pokémon.

Just a thought, maybe passwords for first-time appers? Since obviously if they had to read the FAQ for a password the first time around, they've read it and it's slightly pointless to make them reread it with each app.
If you don't like this though, it's all good. I just... think out loud. /salute

Just echoing Trace in the thanks. I think you guys handled this whole language-barrier really well and I look forward to continued awesomeness in the future.

Anyway, I was really impressed by how you guys outlined the pros and cons and put it up for discussion. I feel really good about the way you two are handling the game right now.

I do have two questions about Pokemon availablity though-- Great job fixing up Johto by the way. Anyway, with Bulbasaur and Chikorita roaming the Ilex Forest, does that mean at some point (obviously in the far future) the other starters will be available in the wild? And how should "rarer" Pokemon be handled? Should we have characters stay longer in an area or just... have them be lucky or some such thing?
This won't apply to Johan for a good while now, but for future reference and such.

Hence why I wasn't necessarily ignoring it and more like just... not worrying about it. Especially since, like all of the other FF players said, we have no idea what language they do speak. XD
BUT ANYWAY, Thanks so much and great job!
