EVALUATE MY BATTLING!

Sup guys, time for the How's My Driving meme at Route! Remember: play nice and keep it civil.

TRAINER TIPS:
→ This is encouraged, not mandatory. We will not penalize you for not using it.
→ Feel free to link your personal HMDs if you would like, just in case someone doesn't want to use the mass HMD post.
→ this is more for actual critique and discussion. Please don't just blindly praise a person or just call them horrible. If someone's doing a wonderful job, you can tell them, just tell them why, or even where they're showing off bonus perks. If someone's doing a not-so-wonderful job, tell them why, give them things to improve on if you can. Examples, links, things that can give them something to work on. Meaning, no bashing, flaming, or nasty behavior. Please keep it civil.
→ Anonymous is turned on! But note: anonymous is a privilege, not a right. If it's being abused to bash players, please be sure to let one of us know and we'll step in or freeze threads if necessary. If anonymous is abused too much, it will be turned off for the next HMD.
→ Don't take this all too personally! Remember that roleplay is a game, and crit is supposed to help, not make you feel horrible. No one is perfect, we've all got room to improve. Please keep that in mind.

Castiel | [livejournal.com profile] conscionably | Supernatural
Koschei | [livejournal.com profile] hypnotises | Doctor Who

I... need to get back in the groove with Cas, and as for Koschei, I was actually wondering if his posts and tags are kind of bland or something, because it's seeming kind of difficult to build CR with him.

Unfortunately I don't know canons so I can't help there. However, one thing I've noticed with Castiel is that you lock his entries, and while you may have your reasons for doing that, it makes his entries really easy to miss. The interesting thing is, you don't do it for Koschel, so yeah.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I know that I'm not logged into my RP journals all the time, so if I'm checking Roxas's flist in my personal journal, I'm going to miss it, and by the time I do notice it, it might be too late or something like that. So part of the reason for difficult CR could just be people are missing your entries. IDK. So I'd recommend unlocking your Cas entries, unless, again, you have your reasons for not doing so.

I wish I could offer more help, but yeah that's all I've got.

It was because I was in two games with him, so I set up filters so that it was easier to keep them separate. I recently dropped the second game, so that won't continue.

Either way, it's not Castiel I'm having trouble getting CR with -- it's Koschei.

Okay, that makes sense.

Just looking at your entries, he strikes me as man of many words (also I spelled his name wrong in my previous comment. Sorry. i is looking like l for some reason). Sometimes it helps to not be too wordy and maybe just focus on a singular question or something like that? I will certainly try to tag his next entry because he seems like an interesting guy.

I don't know if I'm being that much help.

well, wordiness seems to be the common consensus, so I'll try and work on that lmao

Alright, so I went and read over Koschei's posts, and three things came out at me:

1) The guy's wordy. And while I completely understand that it's 100% IC for him, a lot of people often shy away from more intellectual posts. There's nothing wrong with them, far from it--the problem is that a lot of muns, myself included, are often afraid making their character seem less intelligent because they, the mun, can't think of all the sides of a situation.

Or simply because they're lazy in their happyfuntiems and don't want to get their character involved in stuff that requires too much brainwork. xD /GUILTYYYY

2) Big blocks of text. This sounds kind of stupid, but just separating the spoken parts from the description will make your posts seem way more approachable. Right now they're like. Walls.

3) There was something else here but mmmmm, Tom Sturridge. Delicious I MEAN

YEAH no idea if any of this is helpful in the least, but. I TRIED?

Also I promise I will tag you more often with Watanuki, he's just being stubborn at the moment.

1. I shall. Try and work on that then. That really wasn't something I considered at all aha

re: 2 -> I suppose I've never really... considered them walls of text because they're um... paragraph-sized, around about, and the games I've played in previously have always had a kind of ...similar approach to it? And lmao it sounds ridiculous, but the last game I played in was [livejournal.com profile] damned, so I'm unfortunately used to tl;dr and. I guess it's just kind of a hang over from being FUCK YEAH, PROSE EVERYWHERE.

But that's definitely something I'll try and work on then.

3. LMAO

thanks bb

Thank was not helpful what are you thanking me for :/

Yeah idk if you compare all games by Damned's standards I CAN SEE HOW IT WOULDN'T SEEM LARGE TO YOU. But no--the size of the blocks themselves isn't as much the problem as the...idk layout of the post? Just don't plonk dialogue (which is what people try to zone in on) in the middle of description, basically.

And as for the content of the post, I'm definitely not advocating toning/dumbing him down, because that'd be OOC--but maybe like, putting only one question (the most likely to make people react, or the most relevant at the time) in his post, and then pepper the resultant conversations with the other questions he's got to ask? My problem tends to be that I forget what my character wanted to say halfway through, so the conversations would never flow as well as I wanted them. I ended up starting a notepad document in which I put down all of my ideas for whatever! It really helped keep me on track.
