Brandishing A Knife LIVE from Channel EV Studios...

![]() ▶ ▷ ▶ SPECIAL BULLETIN: MOM'S KITCHEN EXTRAVAGANZA! Hey, out there, EV News fans! It's the first day of summer and the longest day of the year, and have we got an extra-special newscast for you! Isn't it great to see warm weather and sunny days again after that apocalypse last winter? And what better way to enjoy the fresh start to a new season than with a special extended edition of Notes From Mom? That's right! Today we're going straight to MOM's kitchen in New Bark Town, where she'll be cooking up some of her favorite summer hits and sending out her best recipes straight to you! What's more, we'll even have a pair of very special guests on the premises: First up: resident Gym Leader and top-secret connoisseur of cuisine, the field marshal of food, the reigning champion of the electric frying pan, the one, the only — LT. SURGE! And joining him today in scenic MOM's kitchen, recently back from a lengthy food tour in Hoenn where he cooked for some of the finest chefs in the region and came out on top; he's lean, he's mean, he specializes in butting heads with anyone who deserves it and coming out on top! He's here today as our very special guest superstaryu: GORDON RAMPARDOS! We made it to MOM's kitchen just in time to see Leader LT. SURGE and Chef RAMPARDOS exchanging friendly blows and exciting kitchen stories — what good old friends! However, the chef bonding didn't last for long, as MOM quickly hustled them to her table and began unveiling some of her favorite homestyle hits! Stay tuned, foodie fans, and we'll be right back with some great summer recipes for you! |
![]() ▶ ▷ ▶ MOM'S FEATURED RECIPE: THE FLAMIN' HOT HO-OHAGIE Following a special request from Chef RAMPARDOS for a really excellent summer sandwich to beat the heat, MOM whipped into action and proudly presented her latest and greatest: the Flamin' Hot Ho-Ohagie! Professor OAK, who smelled good things cooking and decided to pay a surprise visit to the kitchen, had this to say: "For those not in the know, HO-OH is one of the legendary Pokemon of the Johto region! It's said to be the guardian of the skies; it used to perch atop the BELL TOWER in Ecruteak City, but after the old BRASS TOWER was destroyed by fire, it left, and now is said to fly through the world's skies instead! Legend has it that Ho-Oh's feathers glow in seven colors, and that those feathers are said to bring happiness to the bearers! I wonder if MOM's sandwich will bring that same joy to those of us waiting to eat it! Yum, yum!" And so, without further ado: MOM's Flamin' Hot Ho-Ohagie: a spicy turducken hoagie with colorful char-grilled vegetables! INGREDIENTS: • Super-crispy sub sandwich bread • Sliced "turducken"-flavor fowl meat • Red, orange, and yellow peppers • Green lettuce • Purple onions • Green and black olives • Sun-dried tomatoes • MOM's secret spicy "sacred oil" dressing DIRECTIONS: • Get your Pokemon sous chef to CUT those peppers and get them heating up on the grill! • Cut your sub sandwich bread in half lengthwise! • Slice your "turducken"-flavor fowl meat thin and pile it high! • Add lettuce, onions, and sun-dried tomatoes! • Once your colorful peppers have a great char on them, pull them off and soak them in MOM's "sacred oil" dressing for five to ten minutes! • Top your sandwich off with your oil-soaked peppers and replace the top crust • Hold the whole thing together with toothpicks and olives on top, just like HO-OH's crown! • Eat up! |
![]() ▶ ▷ ▶ MOM'S FEATURED RECIPE: LUGIA LINGUINE! But that's not all! For those food fanatics looking for something a little lighter on their summertime menu, MOM was more than happy to continue this very legendary meal with some of her famous Lugia Linguine! While she worked on cooking up this steamy fish dish for our visiting chefs, we went to Professor OAK for the scoop on its inspiration: "LUGIA, the guardian of the seas, is also said to be the leader of the Legendary Birds of Kanto — that's ZAPDOS, MOLTRES, and ARTICUNO! It's said that if the Legendary Birds ever start fighting, it will be LUGIA who rises to put an end to it and return things to peace! And boy, would I sure like a piece of whatever MOM's cooking up here — since LUGIA are ocean-dwellers and feed on seaweed and small aquatic Pokemon, I'm betting we'll be seeing some seafood out of our lovely MOM today!" And boy, was he right, as MOM served us up her Lugia Linguine: delicious shrimp scampi over whole-wheat linguine noodles! INGREDIENTS: • Whole wheat linguine • Olive oil • A pound of shrimp, peeled and deveined • Minced garlic • Crushed red pepper • Dry white wine • Finely chopped parsley DIRECTIONS: • Bring a large pot of salted water to boil. Add linguine and cook until al dente! • Warm oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat! • Cook shrimp until done through (about two minutes), then remove and put on a plate! • In the leftover skillet oil, add garlic, red pepper, wine, and salt to taste, then simmer! • Re-add the shrimp and stir it up good! • Toss the finished pasta with the shrimp mixture and parsley! • Put it in a bowl and have a feast! |
![]() ▶ ▷ ▶ MOM'S FEATURED RECIPE: THE CELE-BERRY MERINGUE! And what better way to round out such a magnificent summertime meal than with a legendary dessert in honor of the voice of the forest itself! That's right! Inspired by the light and airy legendary pokemon CELEBI, this high-rising dessert is sure to make your taste buds wish they could travel through time — so you could keep eating it forever! And of course, while MOM served up the delicious sweets, Professor OAK served up the delicious deets: "CELEBI is an extremely playful species! Its main ability is the power to travel through time, but it's said that it can also do a wide variety of other tricks as well — like restoring plants back to perfect health, levitating, and even bringing their dead friends back to life! Well, that's one thing CELEBI and MOM's cooking have in common — they're both utterly amazing!" Unfortunately, the good professor couldn't say much more, as MOM severely shushed him so his loud voice wouldn't make the rising meringue fall! But our spirits stayed high as she soon unveiled the Cele-Berry Meringue: a crisp, light meringue filled with whipped cream and fresh berries! INGREDIENTS: • Egg whites • White sugar • Vanilla extract • Lemon juice • Cornstarch • Heavy cream • Kiwi slices, blackberries, raspberries, and other fresh fruits DIRECTIONS: • Preheat oven to 300 degrees F! • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, and draw a 9-inch circle on it! • In a large bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff but not dry; gradually add in the sugar, and continue beating until it's thick and glossy! • Gently fold in vanilla extract, lemon juice, and cornstarch! • Spoon the mixture inside the circle drawn on the parchment paper. Working from the center, spread the mixture toward the outside edge, building the edge slightly; this should leave a slight depression in the center! • Bake for 1 hour, then cool on a wire rack! • In a small bowl, beat heavy cream until stiff peaks form; set aside. • Remove the parchment paper and place your meringue on a flat serving plate. • Fill the center of the meringue with the whipped cream, and top with green kiwi and whatever other fresh berries you like best! • Make like a tree and dig in! |
▶ ▷ ▶ BONUS RECIPE: LT. SURGE'S MAMMOTH MEAT MONSTER! But it turns out MOM wasn't the only one having her heyday in the kitchen! Once her meal was concluded, Leader LT. SURGE enthusiastically jumped up and vowed to make us his own signature special, the Electrifying Heart Attack Baconburger! It's so good you'll need an electric shock to restart your heart! With some, uh...reservations, we let Leader LT. SURGE get to work, and... Uh... ![]() INGREDIENTS: • 1050 strips of bacon • ...my god, we can't in good conscience publish this, can we? • Um. Uh. Well...okay, um— • Hey, guys, did — did Ace Reporter JACK really just try to eat that? • Oh, man, someone call a doctor or something • Hey, don't transcribe that, this isn't part of the recip |
