▶ ▷ ▶ GYM NEWS Θ THIS HEAT WAVE'S MAKING WAVES! • Have you been staying cool in this heat wave, trainers? With temperatures skyrocketing, everybody's been feeling the heat lately — and your Gym Leaders are no exception! Our ace reporters have been on fire, calling in hot tip after hot tip about conditions in the various cities lately, and here's some of what they've had to say: In Violet City, Leader FALKNER's Flying-types aren't just Roosting; they're roasting! Leader PRYCE's Ice-type gym is still melting fast from the rising temperatures; a whole team of his gym helpers have been put on round-the-clock maintenance duty with their own Ice-type Pokemon to make sure that things stay frozen! Leader CHUCK reports he's changed his Fighting-type roster's training regimen to accommodate for the heat, and wants to remind all trainers not to push their own rosters too hard without proper rest and hydration! Meanwhile, in Kanto, Water-type Leader MISTY says everything is getting along swimmingly at her gym in Cerulean City, and Leader BLAINE of Cinnabar Island remains pleased as punch about the heat and all-day sun! Θ A SUNNY DISPOSITION! LEADER ERIKA BEATS THE HEAT! • At least one of our Gym Leaders is staying in high spirits along with the high temperatures! Leader ERIKA of Celadon City reports that she's been hosting her gym battles outside now that the heat is reaching into the hundreds! When asked for the method behind such madness, Leader ERIKA was more than happy to explain: "As a gym leader, it's my duty to make sure all those that pass are able to take on any circumstance and make it work the best for them. Did you know my Grass-type Pokemon get phenomenally stronger in the sun? Finally, I think this would prevent me from dozing.... off...." But alas, our interview was cut short as Leader ERIKA started to lightly snooze! Let's hope she rests up so she can give her talented all in her subsequent gym battles!

▶ ▷ ▶ CRIME NEWS Θ PANIC IN PALLET TOWN, REDUX! • Bad news for Pallet Town: this weekend, aided by a mysterious individual in a commonly obtained Ho-Oh mask, the felon responsible for the recent weather attacks escaped from custody in prison! Though the identities of the culprits are not being released at this time, Officer JENNY of Pallet Town is strongly urging anyone with information about the break-in to contact her straight away — but to stay well clear of these dangerous criminals otherwise! "Please do NOT attempt to engage these criminals if you catch sight of them!" Officer JENNY reminded our intrepid reporter, and our viewing public as well! "They have demonstrated their capacity for destruction by refusing to obey the law! We believe they are somewhere in the Kanto region as we speak! If you see any sign of them, report it to us immediately at PKM-NLAW — and try to stay out of it otherwise!" Θ WINGED FURY! HIKERS ATTACKED NEAR BLACKTHORN CITY! • Meanwhile, our ace reporter in Blackthorn City is reporting that a mysterious and unruly trainer with an Aerodactyl attacked three trainers on Route 45 and stole their Pokemon! Though the Pokemon were mysteriously returned without comment yesterday, the culprit remains at large! We interviewed one of the Hikers who fell victim to the attack, who had this to say: "It was horrible! He kept blasting things close to us with Flamethrower and th-that weird prehistoric Pokemon. It kept snapping right at us and nearly swiping us with his claws! I had to go into Blackthorn and buy entirely new pants after he just left for no reason..." At this time, the investigation into this incident is still ongoing, but Officer JENNY has put out an explicit warning for those traveling on Route 45 and in Blackthorn City to remain vigilant and contact the police at PKM-NLAW if they see anything suspicious!

▶ ▷ ▶ WEATHER Θ IT'S GETTING HOT IN HERE! • Your Channel EV Pokemon Weather Station — the first stop to weather the weather whatever the weather! — is broiling right along with you this week, trainers! Temperatures are on the rise and it sure doesn't look like they're stopping anytime soon; all through this week and next, you can expect sunshine, blue skies, and heat, heat, heat! Sure hope you've got a Water-type or Ice-type on hand to help keep things cooled off; if not, we're predicting you'll be a hot mess in the days to come! Θ A NOTE FROM MOM! • Amidst the skyrocketing temperatures, our favorite correspondent, MOM, had just one thing to say: "If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen!" But hey! Just because you're out of the kitchen, that doesn't mean you can't still make great home-cooked recipes while on the road — did you know you can build your own Solar Reflector Oven to keep things cooking even when you're out on the routes? In the meantime, though, get together with some friends and stay cool with Mom's favorite Watermelon Chillers! Then pour your watermelon smoothie back into the hollow melon shell, have one of your Ice-types give it a quick blast to keep it frosty, and dig in! Whether you favor a spoon or a straw, this is one cool treat to eat when the weather gets hot!

▶ ▷ ▶ SWARM NEWS Θ CAMERUPT SURE CAN ERUPT! • With temperatures soaring high, we're not the only ones staying out of the sun; as the heat wave continues, our Pokemon Professors are likewise continuing to report that Pokemon swarm activity is practically nonexistent! But rest assured, Professor OAK didn't send our intrepid reporters away empty-handed: here's the scoop on some of the hottest Pokemon around! "If you think this weather is hot, try to imagine being a CAMERUPT!" Professor OAK pointed out. "CAMERUPT has a pair of volcanoes on its back in place of humps, and its body contains large amounts of molten lava reaching temperatures of 18,000 degrees Fahrenheit! That's about 180 times hotter than the weather outside — and for CAMERUPT, it's like that every day!" Θ LET'S GO, MAGCARGO! • But that wasn't the only hot-stuff Pokemon Professor OAK reported in on for us! Following a heated discussion with one of his aides, the Professor also filled us in on another Mag-nificent Pokemon out there: MAGCARGO! "A CAMERUPT might store magma on the inside of its body, but MAGCARGO have bodies that put it all out there!" Professor OAK explained. "A MAGCARGO's body reaches temperatures of over 18,000 degrees Fahrenheit, too — but if they don't keep moving and staying near extremely hot things, they risk that magma cooling down and hardening! That's why sometimes you'll see MAGCARGO dipping themselves into bodies of molten lava — because it helps keep them fluid and hot!"
