I've collected my thoughts (as opposed to the single whiny reply I made above), and this is how I figure:
If you make a comm to put memes on so they aren't in the way, it's pretty ridiculous to have to moderate the memes that go there.
I see nothing wrong with zero memes in a day or ten memes in a day. People can choose what to respond to or what to ignore altogether. As long as it's in its own meme comm and not clogging the OOC board, of course.
This is (to a much lesser degree) the same kind of sense that would say, 'Guys, you can only post X amount of posts per day. This may be a game dedicated to RPing, but only X amount of RPing is actually allowed.' Just replace 'game' with 'comm' and 'RPing' with 'memes' and you've got the logic behind this.
I think the problem is that you're combining two really good ideas into one really bad one.
Idea 1: It'd be a really good idea to turn us loose in a meme comm to meme to our heart's content. Idea 2: It'd be a somewhat good idea, adversely, to keep memes in the OOC comm but require mod approval so it doesn't get crowded.
Bottom line is: What benefit does limiting the memes in a meme comm yield? Does that benefit really outweigh the fact that this now discourages well-meaning muns from posting fun little side-games in between RPing, provided it isn't in the way at all? Or the fact that at this point, muns are starting to wonder what they are allowed to do without mod approval?
Okay, I was wrong. Bottom line is: Don't stifle the creativity, dudettes. If it's not cluttering anywhere but its own comm, let the love live loud. |D
Yeah, I ran out of steam. You know I love you, Stormy, and I respectfully salute you too, Okami. This is just... one of those 'language barrier' type decisions. It doesn't seem like it should even be a big deal to you guys, but to a lot of us, it... sorta is?
