Yeah, that's exactly what I was going for; the keyrune being fully functional but circumstances preventing it from being at all useful.
And of course I'll keep you informed, although since the most appropriate additional mana sources are
an orb of unclear but likely inconvenient size
and
part of a stone wall
, I'm not expecting it to be a problem.
