I have three general powers for Shaun, so bear with me for a sec.
1) super speed. The inspiration for Shaun's powers are the three pokemon who came with him to Nightmare Castle, and since one of the things that makes his Floatzel Susie such a strong battler is her speed and evasiveness, that would be the trait that he would "dream up" from her as inspiration.
2) super strength (being able to lift and move people bigger than him with no effort) and the ability to use it to rescue people. This one comes from Chase the Charizard, but it's also subconsciously one that he attributes to his father as well. Chase's ability to carry passengers on his back in almost any situation is the direct inspiration for this one, but indirectly it links back to Shaun's feeling of safety and security when his dad rescued him from the well.
and 3) poison point. This one is obviously inspired by Finn the Nidoking, and the reasoning for it is incredibly pragmatic, although he wouldn't just wish for this one verbatim as much as he would try to dream up a way that he could fight back. Shaun knows that he's no fighter, so if he took a power like fire breathing, he might end up hurting an ally. So the poison point is an ability that would trigger only when he gets attacked, and would deal equivalent damage to the attacking creature with every landed hit.
He's basically Jack-Jack Parr. Since his combat role is going to be support/relief, mostly involving covering the "buff" characters and rescuing the fighters when they get K.O.'d, his powers are mostly defensive. Even though he has the ability to make this a wish-fulfillment fantasy and basically become Superman if he wants, this little boy has been through so much in the "real world" that his wish-fulfillment stops at "being strong enough to protect his friends" and to keep others from endangering themselves to keep him safe.
