It's A Whole New World We Live In!

Hey there, Routers! With this final infopost, Hoennween is now officially behind us, and [community profile] route_29 has made its transition into the Wonderful World of Gen VI! Please have a look at this post to see what alterations have been made, and therefore what will be applicable to your gameplay experience from here on out!

A FEW NOTES ON THE IC WORKINGS THAT MADE THIS POSSIBLE:

As discussed on our previous posts regarding this year's Hoenween event, one of our major reasons behind the orchestration of that plot was to create a set of circumstances where Arceus could appear and feasibly rewrite the universe, which in turn would circumvent the problems with a change-over to Gen VI movesets and the question of how we would be grandfathering in existing Pokemon without requiring any sort of "move relearning" to address Gen VI-exclusive moves that a fully-evolved Pokemon may have missed.

Therefore, it's a brand new world that your characters are standing in, and fortunately it looks a whole lot like the old one — albeit with some new and interesting alterations to the norm!

NOTE: For the purposes of IC gameplay, these changes to the world came into effect on November 1, 2014. You are welcome to retcon any in-character actions made between the 1st and this date that conflict with the information in this post, with our apologies for the brief delay in getting it out to you.

ON MOVESETS:

• As discussed above, all Pokemon movesets should now be switched over to follow those used in Gen VI. This includes Pokemon currently in the possession of a trainer, Pokemon caught in the wild, and Pokemon yet to be hatched from eggs.

• All type changes have also now taken effect. Pokemon whose type changed during the transition to Gen VI (Snubbull, Jigglypuff, Mawile, etc.) will now follow their Gen VI typing.

• The Fairy Type is now an officially recognized type.

• The Kalos PokeDex is now available in all Pokemon Centers. You may handwave your character receiving the Dex; once they have the upgrade, they will have access to all the typical information about a Pokemon, including moveset, type, and other such details.

• You may now begin breeding your Gen VI Pokemon, utilizing the now-uniform Gen VI movesets to do so.
EDIT: To clarify, we have not changed the former breeding rules. Breeding will continue as outlined in the FAQ, but will now utilize Gen VI movepools.

ON ITEMS:

• The price list will be receiving an overhaul! Along with bringing our TM numbers into accordance with those used in Gen VI, we will also be adding new TMs to the list of ones currently available in the department stores.

• We will be dividing the department store list to reflect the fact that there are two locations where TMs can be purchased: the Goldenrod Department Store and the Celadon Department Store. Some TMs will only be found in one of the two stores, to encourage travel and diversity.

• New evolutionary items will be added and available for purchase as Route-specific mechanisms for evolving certain Gen VI Pokemon; check the "On Evolution" heading for more in-depth details of what those items are and how you can purchase them.

• As per Route's existing rules, TMs will remain one use only. HMs are still reusable.

• The Berries and Apricorns page will be undergoing a makeover; it will now be the Berries and PokePuffs page, and will include a brief description of the Amie mechanic and what PokePuffs will be available for your characters to buy.

ON THE WORLD:

• The availability lists have been updated to reflect what Gen VI Pokemon are now available for capture in the wild.

• New Kalosian businesses will be moving in and added to the map pages over the course of the next month; we suggest checking back there frequently to see what's being added!

• The central hub for PokePuff production will be located in New Bark Town. Though regular PokePuffs will be available for purchase at outlets in all major cities, trainers with at least eight badges will be able to purchase a special bonus variety of PokePuffs at the headquarters in New Bark Town. Check the "On Evolution" section for more details.

• The universal translator has been modified; while it will still exist to allow characters suffering from a language barrier to understand each other, translation is no longer mandatory. At their discretion, characters may speak foreign languages with which they are canonically familiar without their former difficulty.

GEN VI Starters will become available to applicants starting on January 1, 2015. We are intentionally creating this delay as a way of giving all applicants sufficient time and notice to plan for the change-over, rather than springing it on an impending application cycle and potentially causing players to scramble to adjust their plans as a result.

ON EVOLUTION:

• The following Pokemon will be receiving new evolutionary items to allow them to evolve in Route's setting:
> Inkay, Spritzee, Swirlix, Eevee

• These items are as follows:
-- Inkay BottleEvolves Inkay into Malamar. After purchasing an Inkay Bottle from one of the Department Stores, a trainer will stuff their level-thirty-or-above Inkay into the bottle and cork it. After spinning the corked bottle vertically several times, their Malamar will spray out of the bottle once it is uncorked.

-- SachetEvolves Spritzee into Aromatisse when traded while holding it.

-- Whipped DreamEvolves Swirlix into Slurpuff when traded while holding it.

-- PokePuffEvolves Eevee into Sylveon after two months of feeding, care, and affection, so long as Eevee knows a Fairy-type move when evolving.

Affection evolutions will follow the same time limit as Happiness evolutions — at least two months of care and attention. Affection evolutions will also come with a handwaved obligation to have Amied the Pokemon and fed it store-purchased PokePuffs during that time period.

• Trainers who have at least eight badges and have made an IC trip to New Bark Town to buy PokePuffs from the Puff manufacturer's Regional Headquarters will be permitted to purchase Special Bonus PokePuffs. Feeding your Pokemon these Puffs will reduce the waiting period for all evolutions that typically require two months down to one month. These Puffs may not be shared and are reserved exclusively as a reward for characters who have acquired eight or more badges in-game.

ON UPKEEP:

• With our big Gen VI plans finally out of the way, we on the modteam will be working on streamlining our infopages to make access to information more efficient, to weed out unnecessary pages that have gone without use for some time, and to hopefully make the structure of the game more user-friendly for both existing players and interested applicants. We will be archiving the old pages we're updating, so the information therein won't be gone forever; however, you may notice some changes to the pages and community profiles as we work to overhaul the system and make it more accessible for everyone.

• Understandably, we can only make our best guesses at which pages are "little-used" and which ones are frequently utilized. If it turns out that we remove a page or shift the location of information that you frequently used, please let us know so that we can take that into consideration!
